Magnetic separators for bulk materials
A magnetic grid for a hopper or a rod insert for a chute
For a hopper, DHIT lists single- and double-level magnetic grids for a Ø200 mm opening. For a gravity chute, the catalogue includes magnetic rods in several diameters and lengths. The choice depends on the path of the material, installation dimensions and type of contamination.
Where can metal enter the process?
Metal particles may travel through bulk material and reach downstream equipment. The useful capture point is where the product passes close to the magnetic surface while the flow remains unobstructed.
Consider the contamination type, particle size and cleaning access. A nominal surface-flux value alone does not establish separation performance in a particular process.
Grid or rod insert?
Magnetic grid: a catalogue option for a Ø200 mm hopper. The shop lists single- and double-level N52 versions. Check that the material can pass between the bars without bridging.
Magnetic rod: an option for a chute where material passes near its working surface. Select diameter, length, thread and measured surface flux from a product card. A site-specific review is needed before claiming one arrangement is more effective than another.
Catalogue examples for bulk-material lines
Use these product examples as a starting point for selection:
| Product type | Catalogue example | Magnetic grade | Card specification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Magnetic grid | Ø200 mm hopper, single level | N52 | Catalogue variant |
| Magnetic grid | Ø200 mm hopper, double level | N52 | Catalogue variant |
| Magnetic rod | SM 25x100, 2xM8 | N42 | ~6,500 Gs |
| Magnetic rod | SM 32x100, 2xM8 | N52 | ~10,000 Gs |
The catalogue lists the grid variants and rod parameters shown above. These are product specifications, not guaranteed capture rates. Ask for a process review when particle size, flow, moisture or temperature makes selection uncertain.
Installation and cleaning
Fit a grid so the material passes through its working area, or mount a rod insert where the flow passes near its surface. Leave safe access to remove captured contamination and inspect all working surfaces.
Check the actual product card for mounting details and operating limits. Set cleaning frequency after commissioning from the contamination observed in the process.
