The main mechanism of the magnetic separator is the use of neodymium magnets, placed in a casing made of stainless steel usually AISI304. In this way, it is possible to precisely segregate ferromagnetic particles from other materials. A fundamental component of its operation is the use of repulsion of magnetic poles N and S, which allows magnetic substances to be collected. The thickness of the embedded magnet and its structure's pitch affect the power and range of the separator's operation.
Generally speaking, magnetic separators serve to segregate ferromagnetic elements. If the cans are made of ferromagnetic materials, a magnetic separator will be effective. However, if the cans are made of non-ferromagnetic materials, such as aluminum, the separator will not be able to separate them.
Yes, magnetic rollers find application in food production to remove metallic contaminants, for example iron fragments or iron dust. Our rods are made from acid-resistant steel, AISI 304, approved for use in food.
Magnetic rollers, otherwise magnetic separators, are employed in food production, metal separation as well as waste processing. They help in removing iron dust in the course of the process of separating metals from other materials.
Our magnetic rollers consist of neodymium magnets anchored in a tube of stainless steel with a wall thickness of 1mm.
Both ends of the magnetic bar will be with M8 threaded openings, which enables easy installation in machines or magnetic filter drawers. A "blind" version is also possible in manual separators.
In terms of magnetic properties, magnetic bars differ in terms of flux density, magnetic force lines and the area of operation of the magnetic field. We produce them in materials, N42 and N52.
Often it is believed that the greater the magnet's power, the more effective. Nevertheless, the effectiveness of the magnet's power depends on the height of the used magnet and the quality of the material [N42] or [N52], as well as on the area of application and anticipated needs. The standard operating temperature of a magnetic bar is 80°C.
When the magnet is thin, the magnetic force lines are short. On the other hand, in the case of a thicker magnet, the force lines will be extended and extend over a greater distance.
For making the casings of magnetic separators - rollers, frequently stainless steel is utilized, especially types AISI 304, AISI 316, and AISI 316L.
In a saltwater contact, AISI 316 steel exhibits the best resistance due to its excellent corrosion resistance.
Magnetic bars stand out for their specific arrangement of poles and their ability to attract magnetic substances directly onto their surface, in contrast to other devices that may utilize more complicated filtration systems.
Technical designations and terms pertaining to magnetic separators include among others magnet pitch, polarity, and magnetic induction, as well as the type of steel used.
Magnetic induction for a roller is determined using a teslameter or a gaussmeter with a flat Hall-effect probe, seeking the highest magnetic field value close to the magnetic pole. The result is checked in a value table - the lowest is N30. All designations below N27 or N25 indicate recycling that falls below the standard - they are not suitable.
Neodymium magnetic rollers offer a range of benefits such as a very strong magnetic field, the ability to capture even the tiniest metal particles, and durability. Disadvantages may include the requirement for frequent cleaning, greater weight, and potential installation difficulties.
To properly maintain of neodymium magnetic rollers, it is recommended regularly cleaning them from contaminants, avoiding extreme temperatures up to 80°C, and protecting them from moisture if the threads are not sealed – in ours, they are. The rollers feature waterproofing IP67, so if they are not sealed, the magnets inside can rust and weaken. Testing of the rollers is recommended be carried out every two years. Care should be taken, as it’s possible of finger injury. If the protective tube is only 0.5 mm thick, it may wear out, which in turn could cause problems with the magnetic rod seal and product contamination. The range of the roller is equal to its diameter: fi25mm gives an active range of about 25mm, while fi32 gives an active range of about 40mm.
A magnetic roller is a magnetic separator made from a neodymium magnet enclosed in a cylindrical stainless steel housing, used for separating ferromagnetic contaminants from raw materials. They are applied in industries such as food processing, ceramics, and recycling, where metal separation is crucial.

Compilation of suggested goods

Advantages as well as disadvantages of neodymium magnets NdFeB.

In addition to immense strength, neodymium magnets have the following advantages:

  • They do not lose their strength (of the magnet). After about 10 years, their power decreases by only ~1% (theoretically),
  • They protect against demagnetization caused by external magnetic field very well,
  • By applying a shiny coating of nickel, gold, or silver, the element gains an aesthetic appearance,
  • They have very high magnetic induction on the surface of the magnet,
  • Magnetic neodymium magnets are characterized by hugely high magnetic induction on the surface of the magnet and can operate (depending on the form) even at temperatures of 230°C or higher...
  • The ability for precise shaping and customization to specific needs – neodymium magnets can be produced in many variants of shapes or sizes, which expands the range of their possible uses.
  • Key role in modern technologies – find application in hard drives, electric drive mechanisms, medical apparatus and very modern machines.

Disadvantages of neodymium magnets:

  • They can break as they are extremely fragile when subjected to a strong impact. If the magnets are exposed to impacts, it is suggested using magnets in a protective case. The steel housing in the form of a holder protects the magnet from impacts and also increases its overall strength,
  • They lose strength at high temperatures. Most neodymium magnets experience permanent loss of strength when heated above 80°C (depending on the form and height). However, we also offer special magnets with high temperature resistance, up to 230°C,
  • Magnets exposed to a humid environment can corrode. Therefore, when using them outdoors, we suggest using waterproof magnets made of rubber, plastic, or other moisture-resistant materials,
  • The use of a cover - a magnetic holder is recommended due to the limited production capabilities of creating threads or complex shapes in the magnet
  • Potential hazard to health from tiny fragments of magnets pose a threat, in case of ingestion, which becomes significant in the aspect of protecting young children. Additionally, miniscule components of these devices are able to be problematic in medical diagnosis when they are in the body.

Exercise Caution with Neodymium Magnets

Dust and powder from neodymium magnets are flammable.

Do not attempt to drill into neodymium magnets. Mechanical processing is also not recommended. If the magnet is crushed into fine powder or dust, it becomes highly flammable.

Under no circumstances should neodymium magnets be placed near a computer HDD, TV, and wallet.

Strong magnetic fields emitted by neodymium magnets can damage magnetic storage media such as floppy disks, credit cards, magnetic ID cards, cassette tapes, video tapes, or other devices. In addition, they can damage televisions, VCRs, computer monitors, and CRT displays. Avoid placing neodymium magnets in close proximity to electronic devices.

Neodymium magnets can become demagnetized at high temperatures.

Although magnets have demonstrated their effectiveness up to 80°C or 175°F, the temperature can vary depending on the type, shape, and intended use of the specific magnet.

Neodymium magnetic are especially fragile, which leads to damage.

Neodymium magnets are characterized by significant fragility. Magnets made of neodymium are made of metal and coated with a shiny nickel, but they are not as durable as steel. In the event of a collision between two magnets, there may be a scattering of fragments in different directions. Protecting your eyes is crucial in such a situation.

Magnets will attract to each other, so remember not to allow them to pinch together without control or place your fingers in their path.

Magnets may crack or alternatively crumble with careless connecting to each other. You can't move them to each other. At a distance less than 10 cm you should have them very firmly.

Avoid contact with neodymium magnets if you have a nickel allergy.

Studies show a small percentage of people have allergies to certain metals, including nickel. An allergic reaction often manifests as skin redness and rash. If you have a nickel allergy, try wearing gloves or avoid direct contact with nickel-plated neodymium magnets.

Avoid bringing neodymium magnets close to a phone or GPS.

Magnetic fields interfere with compasses and magnetometers used in navigation for air and sea transport, as well as internal compasses of smartphones and GPS devices.

Neodymium magnets are the strongest magnets ever invented. Their strength can surprise you.

On our website, you can find information on how to use neodymium magnets. This will help you avoid injuries and prevent damage to the magnets.

Do not give neodymium magnets to youngest children.

Remember that neodymium magnets are not toys. Do not allow children to play with them. Small magnets can pose a serious choking hazard. If multiple magnets are swallowed, they can attract to each other through the intestinal walls, causing significant injuries, and even death.

Neodymium magnets are not recommended for people with pacemakers.

In the case of neodymium magnets, there is a strong magnetic field. As a result, it interferes with the operation of a heart pacemaker. However, if the magnetic field does not affect the device, it can damage its components or deactivate the device when it is in a magnetic field.
