The device rod magnetic is based on the use of neodymium magnets, which are placed in a construction made of stainless steel usually AISI304. Due to this, it is possible to effectively remove ferromagnetic particles from the mixture. A fundamental component of its operation is the repulsion of magnetic poles N and S, which causes magnetic substances to be targeted. The thickness of the magnet and its structure pitch affect the range and strength of the separator's operation.
Generally speaking, magnetic separators are used to extract ferromagnetic elements. If the cans are ferromagnetic, a magnetic separator will be effective. However, if the cans are made of non-ferromagnetic materials, such as aluminum, the separator will not effectively segregate them.
Yes, magnetic rollers are used in the food sector for the elimination of metallic contaminants, including iron fragments or iron dust. Our rods are built from durable acid-resistant steel, EN 1.4301, suitable for use in food.
Magnetic rollers, often called magnetic separators, find application in metal separation, food production as well as recycling. They help in removing iron dust during the process of separating metals from other wastes.
Our magnetic rollers consist of a neodymium magnet anchored in a tube made of stainless steel with a wall thickness of 1mm.
From both sides of the magnetic bar will be with M8 threaded holes - 18 mm, allowing for quick installation in machines or magnetic filter drawers. A "blind" version is also possible in manual separators.
In terms of forces, magnetic bars stand out in terms of flux density, magnetic force lines and the field of the magnetic field. We produce them in two materials, N42 and N52.
Often it is believed that the stronger the magnet, the more efficient it is. Nevertheless, the effectiveness of the magnet's power is based on the height of the used magnet and the quality of the material [N42] or [N52], as well as on the area of application and specific needs. The standard operating temperature of a magnetic bar is 80°C.
If the magnet is thin, the magnetic force lines will be short. On the other hand, when the magnet is thick, the force lines are extended and reach further.
For creating the casings of magnetic separators - rollers, most often stainless steel is utilized, especially types AISI 304, AISI 316, and AISI 316L.
In a salt water environment, AISI 316 steel is highly recommended due to its excellent corrosion resistance.
Magnetic bars stand out for their unique configuration of poles and their ability to attract magnetic substances directly onto their surface, in contrast to other separators that often use more complicated filtration systems.
Technical designations and terms related to magnetic separators comprise among others polarity, magnetic induction, magnet pitch, as well as the type of steel used.
Magnetic induction for a magnet on a roller is measured using a teslameter or a gaussmeter with a flat Hall-effect probe, seeking the highest magnetic field value close to the magnetic pole. The result is verified in a value table - the lowest is N30. All designations below N27 or N25 suggest recycling that falls below the standard - they are not suitable.
Neodymium magnetic rollers offer many advantages, including excellent separation efficiency, strong magnetic field, and durability. Disadvantages may include the need for regular cleaning, higher cost, and potential installation challenges.
By ensuring proper maintenance of neodymium magnetic rollers, you should regularly cleaning them from deposits, avoiding high temperatures up to 80°C, and protecting them from moisture if the threads are not sealed – in ours, they are. The rollers feature waterproofing IP67, so if they are leaky, the magnets inside can oxidize and weaken. Testing of the rollers is recommended be carried out every two years. Caution should be taken during use, as there is a risk of finger injury. If the protective tube is only 0.5 mm thick, it may wear out, which in turn could cause problems with the magnetic rod seal and product contamination. The effective range of the roller is equal to its diameter: fi25mm gives an active range of about 25mm, while fi32 gives an active range of about 40mm.
A magnetic roller is a magnetic separator made from a neodymium magnet enclosed in a cylindrical stainless steel housing, which are used to remove metal contaminants from bulk and granular materials. They are applied in industries such as food processing, ceramics, and recycling, where the removal of iron metals and iron filings is essential.

Product suggestions

Advantages and disadvantages of neodymium magnets NdFeB.

In addition to immense power, neodymium magnets have the following advantages:

  • They do not lose their strength (of the magnet). After about 10 years, their strength decreases by only ~1% (theoretically),
  • They are exceptionally resistant to demagnetization caused by an external magnetic field,
  • By applying a shiny coating of nickel, gold, or silver, the element gains an aesthetic appearance,
  • They exhibit very high magnetic induction on the surface of the magnet,
  • Thanks to their high temperature resistance, they can operate (depending on the shape) even at temperatures up to 230°C and above...
  • Thanks to the flexibility in shaping or the ability to adapt to specific requirements – neodymium magnets can be produced in various forms and dimensions, which expands the range of their possible uses.
  • Key role in the industry of new technologies – find application in computer drives, electric motors, medical equipment and other highly developed apparatuses.

Disadvantages of neodymium magnets:

  • They can break as they are fragile when subjected to a powerful impact. If the magnets are exposed to impacts, it is suggested using magnets in a steel housing. The steel housing in the form of a holder protects the magnet from impacts and simultaneously increases its overall strength,
  • They lose strength at high temperatures. Most neodymium magnets experience permanent loss of strength when heated above 80°C (depending on the form and height). However, we also offer special magnets with high temperature resistance, up to 230°C,
  • Due to their susceptibility to corrosion in a humid environment, we suggest using waterproof magnets made of rubber, plastic, or other moisture-resistant materials when using them outdoors,
  • The use of a cover - a magnetic holder is recommended due to the limited production capabilities of creating threads or complex shapes in the magnet
  • Possible danger to health from tiny fragments of magnets are risky, in case of ingestion, which becomes significant in the context of child safety. It's also worth noting that miniscule components of these magnets can hinder the diagnostic process after entering the body.

Handle Neodymium Magnets Carefully

Neodymium magnets can demagnetize at high temperatures.

Although magnets are generally resilient, their ability to maintain their magnetic potency can be influenced by factors like the type of material used, the magnet's shape, and the intended purpose for which it is employed.

The magnet is coated with nickel. Therefore, exercise caution if you have an allergy.

Studies show a small percentage of people have allergies to certain metals, including nickel. An allergic reaction often manifests as skin redness and rash. If you have a nickel allergy, try wearing gloves or avoid direct contact with nickel-plated neodymium magnets.

Do not bring neodymium magnets close to GPS and smartphones.

Neodymium magnets are a source of strong magnetic fields that cause interference with magnetometers and compasses used in navigation, as well as internal compasses of smartphones and GPS devices.

Dust and powder from neodymium magnets are flammable.

Avoid drilling or mechanical processing of neodymium magnets. Once crushed into fine powder or dust, this material becomes highly flammable.

Neodymium magnetic are extremely delicate, they easily break and can become damaged.

Neodymium magnets are highly delicate, and by joining them in an uncontrolled manner, they will crack. Neodymium magnets are made of metal and coated with a shiny nickel surface, but they are not as hard as steel. In the event of a collision between two magnets, there may be a scattering of fragments in different directions. Protecting your eyes is crucial in such a situation.

People with pacemakers are advised to avoid neodymium magnets.

Neodymium magnets produce strong magnetic fields that can interfere with the operation of a heart pacemaker. Even if the magnetic field does not affect the device, it can damage its components or deactivate the entire device.

Neodymium magnets are over 10 times stronger than ferrite magnets (the ones in speakers), and their strength can surprise you.

Make sure to review all the information we have provided. This will help you avoid harm to your body and damage to the magnets.

Keep neodymium magnets far from children.

Remember that neodymium magnets are not toys. Do not allow children to play with them. Small magnets can pose a serious choking hazard. If multiple magnets are swallowed, they can attract to each other through the intestinal walls, causing significant injuries, and even death.

Keep neodymium magnets away from TV, wallet, and computer HDD.

Strong magnetic fields emitted by neodymium magnets can destroy magnetic storage media such as floppy disks, credit cards, magnetic ID cards, cassette tapes, video tapes, or other devices. They can also damage televisions, VCRs, computer monitors, and CRT displays. You should especially avoid placing neodymium magnets near electronic devices.

Neodymium magnets can attract to each other due to their immense internal force, causing the skin and other body parts to get pinched and resulting in significant swellings.

Magnets will bounce and touch together within a radius of several to almost 10 cm from each other.
