Magnetic screwdrivers

|

Escaping screws when screwing in or out can be a nightmare for most DIY enthusiasts. They can effectively complicate work and even halt it if the runaway screw is not found. That's why one of the basic tools that everyone should have in their home is a magnetic screwdriver. Its construction is very simple, with a small magnet at the tip that effectively holds screws and bolts, preventing them from escaping. This makes work progress much faster and more efficient. Such a screwdriver is especially useful when screwing in long elements at unusual angles - the risk of them bouncing off somewhere is quite high. Using a magnetic screwdriver completely eliminates this problem, as the magnet will securely hold the screw in place, allowing you to tighten it smoothly. Magnets are also frequently found in tools with interchangeable tips. In such cases, there's no need to screw or secure these tips, as the magnetic force is sufficient to keep them in place.

Magnetic Foil

Anyone who has done any finishing work in their home knows how dusty it can get. Therefore, it's essential to separate the renovated area from the rest of the living space to avoid the need to clean dust from all surfaces. For this purpose, you can cover the door with plastic wrap for the whole day, but it will be challenging to go in and out. Alternatively, you can use a very interesting solution, which is a magnetic door shield. This shield is made of thick, durable foil, which should be cut to the appropriate size and attached to the door frame. Inside, the foil is cut, creating an opening for passage. Instead of a traditional lock, the two halves have small magnets attached. When both parts are connected, the magnets attract each other, providing a tight seal. Such a solution is much more practical than a lock. It's easier to pass through the shield because you don't have to move anything aside; you just need to separate both halves. Moreover, when there is a lot of dust, locks often get stuck, making the shield suitable only for disposal.

Magnetic Holders for Tiles

In bathrooms or kitchens, there is often a need to install tiles that will cover a niche with meters or valves but can be easily removed if necessary. Small magnets, usually available in sets of four, are ideal for this purpose. These magnets are installed in the holes at designated locations, and since they are enclosed in metal housings, it should not be a major problem. On the cabinet doors, small metal plates should be glued so that they align with the magnets when closed. Some sets come with these plates provided by the manufacturer, and if not, you can buy them at any hardware store.

FAQ - Good to know

Slide the magnet over the wall. You will feel resistance where there is metal underneath. This allows avoiding pipes when drilling or finding a place to screw in a plug.
A magnet is a third hand. You can hold a nail with it while hammering (magnetic holder), or collect filings after drilling so they don't fall into your eyes.
Magnet sets for tiles allow making an invisible inspection. No need to grout or screw screws. Access to meters or valves is instant and aesthetic.
