The device roller magnetic is based on the use of neodymium magnets, placed in a casing made of stainless steel usually AISI304. As a result, it is possible to efficiently separate ferromagnetic elements from the mixture. A key aspect of its operation is the repulsion of magnetic poles N and S, which causes magnetic substances to be targeted. The thickness of the magnet and its structure pitch affect the power and range of the separator's operation.
Generally speaking, magnetic separators are used to separate ferromagnetic particles. If the cans are ferromagnetic, a magnetic separator will be effective. However, if the cans are made of non-ferromagnetic materials, such as aluminum, the separator will not effectively segregate them.
Yes, magnetic rollers are employed in the food sector to clear metallic contaminants, such as iron fragments or iron dust. Our rods are built from durable acid-resistant steel, EN 1.4301, intended for use in food.
Magnetic rollers, often called cylindrical magnets, are used in metal separation, food production as well as recycling. They help in extracting iron dust in the course of the process of separating metals from other materials.
Our magnetic rollers consist of neodymium magnets anchored in a tube made of stainless steel with a wall thickness of 1mm.
Both ends of the magnetic bar will be with M8 threaded openings, enabling simple mounting in machines or magnetic filter drawers. A "blind" version is also possible in manual separators.
In terms of magnetic properties, magnetic bars stand out in terms of magnetic force lines, flux density and the area of operation of the magnetic field. We produce them in two materials, N42 as well as N52.
Often it is believed that the greater the magnet's power, the more effective. Nevertheless, the value of the magnet's power depends on the height of the used magnet and the quality of the material [N42] or [N52], as well as on the area of use and specific needs. The standard operating temperature of a magnetic bar is 80°C.
When the magnet is thin, the magnetic force lines will be short. By contrast, in the case of a thicker magnet, the force lines are longer and extend over a greater distance.
For constructing the casings of magnetic separators - rollers, most often stainless steel is used, particularly types AISI 304, AISI 316, and AISI 316L.
In a salt water contact, type AISI 316 steel is highly recommended thanks to its outstanding anti-corrosion properties.
Magnetic bars are characterized by their unique configuration of poles and their ability to attract magnetic substances directly onto their surface, in contrast to other separators that may utilize complex filtration systems.
Technical designations and terms pertaining to magnetic separators include among others polarity, magnetic induction, magnet pitch, as well as the type of steel used.
Magnetic induction for a magnet on a roller is measured using a teslameter or a gaussmeter with a flat Hall-effect probe, seeking the highest magnetic field value near the magnetic pole. The result is checked in a value table - the lowest is N30. All designations less than N27 or N25 indicate recycling that doesn't meet the standard - they are not suitable.
Neodymium magnetic rollers offer a range of benefits such as a very strong magnetic field, the ability to capture even the tiniest metal particles, and durability. However, some of the downsides may involve higher cost compared to other types of magnets and the need for regular maintenance.
By ensuring proper maintenance of neodymium magnetic rollers, you should regularly cleaning them from deposits, avoiding high temperatures up to 80°C, and shielding them from moisture if the threads are not sealed – in ours, they are. The rollers feature waterproofing IP67, so if they are not sealed, the magnets inside can oxidize and weaken. Testing of the rollers should be carried out every two years. Care should be taken, as there is a risk getting pinched. If the protective tube is only 0.5 mm thick, it may wear out, which in turn could lead to problems with the magnetic rod seal and product contamination. The effective range of the roller is equal to its diameter: fi25mm gives an active range of about 25mm, while fi32 gives an active range of about 40mm.
A magnetic roller is a magnetic separator made from a neodymium magnet enclosed in a cylindrical stainless steel housing, which are used to remove metal contaminants from bulk and granular materials. They are applied in industries such as food processing, ceramics, and recycling, where metal separation is crucial.

Advantages as well as disadvantages of neodymium magnets NdFeB.

In addition to immense strength, neodymium magnets have the following advantages:

  • They do not lose power over time - after approximately 10 years, their power decreases by only ~1% (theoretically),
  • They are exceptionally resistant to demagnetization caused by an external magnetic field,
  • In other words, thanks to the shiny coating of nickel, gold, or silver, the element acquires an aesthetic appearance,
  • They possess very high magnetic induction on the surface of the magnet,
  • By using an appropriate combination of materials, they can achieve high thermal resistance, allowing them to operate at temperatures up to 230°C and above...
  • Thanks to the flexibility in shaping and the ability to adapt to specific requirements – neodymium magnets can be produced in a wide range of shapes and sizes, which expands the range of their possible uses.
  • Key role in the industry of new technologies – are used in computer drives, electric motors, medical apparatus and very advanced devices.

Disadvantages of neodymium magnets:

  • They are fragile when subjected to a strong impact. If the magnets are exposed to impacts, we recommend using magnets in a metal holder. The steel housing in the form of a holder protects the magnet from impacts and at the same time increases its overall strength,
  • Magnets lose their strength due to exposure to high temperatures. In most cases, when the temperature exceeds 80°C, these magnets experience permanent reduction in strength (although it is worth noting that this is dependent on the shape and size of the magnet). To avoid this problem, we offer special magnets marked with the [AH] symbol, which exhibit high temperature resistance. They can operate even at temperatures as high as 230°C or more,
  • They rust in a humid environment - during outdoor use, we recommend using waterproof magnets, such as those made of rubber or plastic,
  • The use of a cover or a magnetic holder is recommended due to the limited possibilities of manufacturing threads or complex shapes in the magnet
  • Potential hazard to health from tiny fragments of magnets pose a threat, when accidentally ingested, which is particularly important in the context of children's health. Additionally, miniscule components of these magnets can hinder the diagnostic process after entering the body.

Caution with Neodymium Magnets

You should maintain neodymium magnets at a safe distance from the wallet, computer, and TV.

Magnetic fields generated by neodymium magnets can damage magnetic storage media such as floppy disks, credit cards, magnetic ID cards, cassette tapes, video tapes, or other similar devices. They can also damage televisions, VCRs, computer monitors, and CRT displays. Avoid placing neodymium magnets in close proximity to electronic devices.

Keep neodymium magnets away from people with pacemakers.

Neodymium magnets produce strong magnetic fields that can interfere with the operation of a heart pacemaker. However, if the magnetic field does not affect the device, it can damage its components or deactivate the device when it is in a magnetic field.

Dust and powder from neodymium magnets are highly flammable.

Avoid drilling or mechanical processing of neodymium magnets. If the magnet is crushed into fine powder or dust, it becomes highly flammable.

Neodymium magnets can become demagnetized at high temperatures.

Although magnets are generally resilient, their ability to maintain their magnetic potency can be influenced by factors like the type of material used, the magnet's shape, and the intended purpose for which it is employed.

The magnet coating contains nickel, so be cautious if you have a nickel allergy.

Studies show a small percentage of people have allergies to certain metals, including nickel. An allergic reaction often manifests as skin redness and rash. If you have a nickel allergy, try wearing gloves or avoid direct contact with nickel-plated neodymium magnets.

Magnets made of neodymium are delicate and can easily crack as well as get damaged.

Neodymium magnets are extremely fragile, and by joining them in an uncontrolled manner, they will crack. Neodymium magnets are made of metal and coated with a shiny nickel, but they are not as durable as steel. In the event of a collision between two magnets, there may be a scattering of fragments in different directions. Protecting your eyes is crucial in such a situation.

It is crucial not to allow the magnets to pinch together uncontrollably or place your fingers in their path as they attract to each other.

Neodymium magnets will bounce and also touch together within a distance of several to almost 10 cm from each other.

Avoid bringing neodymium magnets close to a phone or GPS.

Intense magnetic fields generated by neodymium magnets interfere with compasses and magnetometers used in navigation, as well as internal compasses of smartphones and GPS devices.

Neodymium magnets should not be around youngest children.

Not all neodymium magnets are toys, so do not let children play with them. In such a situation, surgery is necessary to remove them. In the worst case scenario, it can result in death.

Comparing neodymium magnets to ferrite magnets (found in speakers), they are 10 times stronger, and their strength can shock you.

Familiarize yourself with our information to correctly handle these magnets and avoid significant injuries to your body and prevent damage to the magnets.
