The device roller magnetic is based on the use of neodymium magnets, which are placed in a casing made of stainless steel usually AISI304. In this way, it is possible to effectively segregate ferromagnetic elements from other materials. A fundamental component of its operation is the repulsion of magnetic poles N and S, which causes magnetic substances to be collected. The thickness of the embedded magnet and its structure's pitch determine the power and range of the separator's operation.
Generally speaking, magnetic separators are designed to extract ferromagnetic elements. If the cans are made of ferromagnetic materials, the separator will be able to separate them. However, if the cans are made of non-ferromagnetic materials, such as aluminum, the separator will not be able to separate them.
Yes, magnetic rollers are used in the food industry to clear metallic contaminants, including iron fragments or iron dust. Our rollers are made from durable acid-resistant steel, EN 1.4301, approved for use in food.
Magnetic rollers, otherwise cylindrical magnets, are used in food production, metal separation as well as waste processing. They help in eliminating iron dust in the course of the process of separating metals from other wastes.
Our magnetic rollers are built with a neodymium magnet embedded in a tube made of stainless steel with a wall thickness of 1mm.
Both ends of the magnetic bar can be with M8 threaded holes - 18 mm, enabling quick installation in machines or magnetic filter drawers. A "blind" version is also possible in manual separators.
In terms of magnetic properties, magnetic bars stand out in terms of flux density, magnetic force lines and the field of the magnetic field. We produce them in materials, N42 as well as N52.
Usually it is believed that the stronger the magnet, the better. But, the value of the magnet's power depends on the height of the used magnet and the quality of the material [N42] or [N52], as well as on the area of use and anticipated needs. The standard operating temperature of a magnetic bar is 80°C.
If the magnet is thin, the magnetic force lines will be more compressed. Otherwise, when the magnet is thick, the force lines are longer and extend over a greater distance.
For creating the casings of magnetic separators - rollers, usually stainless steel is employed, especially types AISI 304, AISI 316, and AISI 316L.
In a saltwater contact, AISI 316 steel exhibits the best resistance due to its exceptional corrosion resistance.
Magnetic bars stand out for their specific arrangement of poles and their capability to attract magnetic particles directly onto their surface, as opposed to other separators that often use complex filtration systems.
Technical designations and terms related to magnetic separators include amongst others magnet pitch, polarity, and magnetic induction, as well as the type of steel used.
Magnetic induction for a roller is determined using a teslameter or a gaussmeter with a flat Hall-effect probe, seeking the highest magnetic field value near the magnetic pole. The result is checked in a value table - the lowest is N30. All designations less than N27 or N25 indicate recycling that doesn't meet the standard - they are not suitable.
Neodymium magnetic rollers offer a range of benefits such as excellent separation efficiency, strong magnetic field, and durability. Disadvantages may include the need for regular cleaning, higher cost, and potential installation challenges.
For proper maintenance of neodymium magnetic rollers, you should washing after each use, avoiding temperatures above 80 degrees. The rollers our rollers have waterproofing IP67, so if they are leaky, the magnets inside can oxidize and weaken. Testing of the rollers is recommended be carried out every two years. Caution should be taken during use, as it’s possible of finger injury. If the protective tube is only 0.5 mm thick, it may wear out, which in turn could lead to problems with the magnetic rod seal and product contamination. The effective range of the roller is equal to its diameter: fi25mm gives an active range of about 25mm, while fi32 gives an active range of about 40mm.
A magnetic roller is a magnetic separator made from a neodymium magnet enclosed in a cylindrical stainless steel housing, which are used to remove metal contaminants from bulk and granular materials. They are used in the food industry, recycling, and plastic processing, where metal separation is crucial.

Advantages as well as disadvantages of neodymium magnets NdFeB.

Apart from immense power, neodymium magnets have the following advantages:

  • They do not lose their power (of the magnet). After approximately 10 years, their power decreases by only ~1% (theoretically),
  • They are extremely resistant to demagnetization by external magnetic sources,
  • In other words, thanks to the shiny coating of nickel, gold, or silver, the element acquires an aesthetic appearance,
  • They exhibit very high magnetic induction on the surface of the magnet,
  • Magnetic neodymium magnets are characterized by very high magnetic induction on the surface of the magnet and can operate (depending on the shape) even at temperatures of 230°C or higher...
  • Due to the option of accurate forming or adaptation to individual needs – neodymium magnets can be produced in many variants of shapes or sizes, which enhances their versatility in applications.
  • Key role in the industry of new technologies – are utilized in hard drives, electric motors, medical apparatus and very highly developed apparatuses.

Disadvantages of neodymium magnets:

  • They can break as they are fragile when subjected to a strong impact. If the magnets are exposed to impacts, we recommend using magnets in a metal holder. The steel housing in the form of a holder protects the magnet from impacts and simultaneously increases its overall strength,
  • They lose power at high temperatures. Most neodymium magnets experience permanent loss of strength when heated above 80°C (depending on the form and height). However, we also offer special magnets with high temperature resistance, up to 230°C,
  • Due to their susceptibility to corrosion in a humid environment, we suggest using waterproof magnets made of rubber, plastic, or other moisture-resistant materials when using them outdoors,
  • The use of a cover - a magnetic holder is recommended due to the limited production capabilities of creating threads or complex shapes in the magnet
  • Potential hazard arising from small pieces of magnets are risky, when accidentally ingested, which becomes significant in the context of children's health. Furthermore, small elements of these devices can complicate diagnosis when they are in the body.

Be Cautious with Neodymium Magnets

The magnet coating is made of nickel, so be cautious if you have an allergy.

Studies show a small percentage of people have allergies to certain metals, including nickel. An allergic reaction often manifests as skin redness and rash. If you have a nickel allergy, try wearing gloves or avoid direct contact with nickel-plated neodymium magnets.

Neodymium magnets can become demagnetized at high temperatures.

While Neodymium magnets can lose their magnetic properties at high temperatures, it's important to note that the extent of this effect can vary based on factors such as the magnet's material, shape, and intended application.

Dust and powder from neodymium magnets are flammable.

Avoid drilling or mechanical processing of neodymium magnets. If the magnet is crushed into fine powder or dust, it becomes highly flammable.

Neodymium Magnets can attract to each other due to their immense internal force, causing the skin and other body parts to get pinched and resulting in significant injuries.

Magnets may crack or alternatively crumble with careless joining to each other. You can't approach them to each other. At a distance less than 10 cm you should have them very firmly.

Neodymium magnets are the most powerful magnets ever created, and their power can shock you.

Please review the information on how to handle neodymium magnets and avoid significant harm to your body, as well as prevent unintentional damage to the magnets.

Do not place neodymium magnets near a computer HDD, TV, and wallet.

Magnetic fields generated by neodymium magnets can damage magnetic storage media such as floppy disks, credit cards, magnetic ID cards, cassette tapes, video tapes, or other similar devices. In addition, they can damage televisions, VCRs, computer monitors, and CRT displays. Avoid placing neodymium magnets in close proximity to electronic devices.

Under no circumstances should neodymium magnets be brought close to GPS and smartphones.

Magnetic fields can interfere with compasses and magnetometers used in aviation and maritime navigation, as well as internal compasses of smartphones and GPS devices. There are neodymium magnets in every smartphone, for example, in the microphone and speakers.

Keep neodymium magnets away from people with pacemakers.

In the case of neodymium magnets, there is a strong magnetic field. As a result, it interferes with the operation of a heart pacemaker. Even if the magnetic field does not affect the device, it can damage its components or deactivate the entire device.

Do not give neodymium magnets to youngest children.

Not all neodymium magnets are toys, so do not let children play with them. In such a situation, surgery is necessary to remove them. In the worst case scenario, it can result in death.

Magnets made of neodymium are especially delicate, which leads to damage.

Neodymium magnetic are highly delicate, and by joining them in an uncontrolled manner, they will break. Neodymium magnets are made of metal and coated with a shiny nickel surface, but they are not as hard as steel. In the event of a collision between two magnets, there may be a scattering of fragments in different directions. Protecting your eyes is crucial in such a situation.
