Neodymium disc magnets offer a range of advantages in relation to other magnet shapes, which cause them to be the ideal choice for many applications:
Contact Surface: Thanks to their flat shape, disc magnets guarantee a larger contact surface with other elements, which is beneficial in applications needing a stronger magnetic connection.
Applications in Technology: The magnets are often used in different devices, such as sensors, stepper motors, or speakers, where a thin and wide shape is essential for their operation.
Mounting: This form's flat shape makes mounting, particularly when it's necessary to adhere the magnet to a surface.
Design Flexibility: The disc shape of the magnets provides designers with greater flexibility in arranging them in constructions, which can be more difficult with magnets of more complex shapes.
Stability: In certain applications, the flat base of a disc magnet can offer better stability, minimizing the risk of shifting or rotating. However, it's important to remember that the optimal shape of a magnet depends on the particular use and requirements. In certain cases, other shapes, like cylindrical or spherical, might be a better choice.

Advantages and disadvantages of neodymium magnets NdFeB.

In addition to immense power, neodymium magnets have the following advantages:

  • They do not lose strength over time - after about 10 years, their strength decreases by only ~1% (theoretically),
  • They are highly resistant to demagnetization by external magnetic field,
  • By applying a shiny coating of nickel, gold, or silver, the element gains an aesthetic appearance,
  • They exhibit very high magnetic induction on the surface of the magnet,
  • Magnetic neodymium magnets are characterized by hugely high magnetic induction on the surface of the magnet and can operate (depending on the shape) even at temperatures of 230°C or higher...
  • Due to the option of accurate forming and adaptation to individual needs – neodymium magnets can be produced in various forms and dimensions, which expands the range of their possible uses.
  • Significant importance in advanced technologically fields – are used in computer drives, electric drive mechanisms, medical devices and very modern machines.

Disadvantages of neodymium magnets:

  • They can break when subjected to a strong impact. If the magnets are exposed to impacts, we recommend using magnets in a protective case. The steel housing in the form of a holder protects the magnet from impacts, and at the same time increases its overall strength,
  • Magnets lose their strength due to exposure to high temperatures. In most cases, when the temperature exceeds 80°C, these magnets experience permanent loss in strength (although it is worth noting that this is dependent on the shape and size of the magnet). To avoid this problem, we offer special magnets marked with the [AH] symbol, which exhibit high temperature resistance. They can operate even at temperatures as high as 230°C or more,
  • Magnets exposed to a humid environment can corrode. Therefore, when using them outdoors, we recommend using waterproof magnets made of rubber, plastic, or other moisture-resistant materials,
  • The use of a cover - a magnetic holder is recommended due to the limited production capabilities of creating threads or complex shapes in the magnet
  • Health risk associated with microscopic parts of magnets are risky, when accidentally ingested, which is particularly important in the context of children's health. It's also worth noting that small elements of these magnets have the potential to be problematic in medical diagnosis after entering the body.

Handle Neodymium Magnets with Caution

Magnets are not toys, children should not play with them.

Neodymium magnets are not toys. Do not allow children to play with them. Small magnets can pose a serious choking hazard. If multiple magnets are swallowed, they can attract to each other through the intestinal walls, causing severe injuries, and even death.

Neodymium magnets are the strongest magnets ever created, and their power can surprise you.

Make sure to review all the information we have provided. This will help you avoid harm to your body and damage to the magnets.

Keep neodymium magnets as far away as possible from GPS and smartphones.

Neodymium magnets generate intense magnetic fields that interfere with magnetometers and compasses used in navigation, as well as internal compasses of smartphones and GPS devices.

Under no circumstances should neodymium magnets be placed near a computer HDD, TV, and wallet.

Strong magnetic fields emitted by neodymium magnets can damage magnetic storage media such as floppy disks, credit cards, magnetic ID cards, cassette tapes, video tapes, or other devices. In addition, they can damage televisions, VCRs, computer monitors, and CRT displays. You should especially avoid placing neodymium magnets near electronic devices.

Neodymium magnets are particularly fragile, resulting in their breakage.

Magnets made of neodymium are fragile as well as will break if allowed to collide with each other, even from a distance of a few centimeters. Despite being made of metal and coated with a shiny nickel plating, they are not as hard as steel. In the case of a collision between two magnets, there can be a scattering of small sharp metal fragments in different directions. Protecting your eyes is essential.

Neodymium magnets can demagnetize at high temperatures.

Under specific conditions, Neodymium magnets can lose their magnetism when subjected to high temperatures.

Dust and powder from neodymium magnets are flammable.

Avoid drilling or mechanical processing of neodymium magnets. Once crushed into fine powder or dust, this material becomes highly flammable.

Keep neodymium magnets away from people with pacemakers.

Neodymium magnets generate very strong magnetic fields that can interfere with the operation of a pacemaker. This is because many of these devices are equipped with a function that deactivates the device in a magnetic field.

It is crucial not to allow the magnets to pinch together uncontrollably or place your fingers in their path as they attract to each other.

If joining of neodymium magnets is not controlled, at that time they may crumble and crack. You can't approach them to each other. At a distance less than 10 cm you should hold them very strongly.

Avoid contact with neodymium magnets if you have a nickel allergy.

Studies show a small percentage of people have allergies to certain metals, including nickel. An allergic reaction often manifests as skin redness and rash. If you have a nickel allergy, try wearing gloves or avoid direct contact with nickel-plated neodymium magnets.
