Neodymium disc magnets present a range of advantages compared to other magnet shapes, which cause them to be the best choice for many applications:
Contact Surface: Due to their flat shape, disc magnets guarantee a larger contact surface with other elements, which is beneficial in applications requiring a stronger magnetic connection.
Applications in Technology: These magnets are often utilized in many devices, such as sensors, stepper motors, or speakers, where a flat shape is essential for their operation.
Mounting: Their flat shape facilitates mounting, particularly when there's a need to adhere the magnet to another surface.
Design Flexibility: The flat shape of the magnets allows designers with greater flexibility in placing them in devices, which can be more difficult with magnets of other shapes.
Stability: In some applications, the flat base of a disc magnet can offer better stability, reducing the risk of shifting or rotating. It should be noted that the optimal shape of a magnet depends on the specific project and requirements. In some cases, other shapes, like cylindrical or spherical, may be more suitable.

Shopping tips

Advantages and disadvantages of neodymium magnets NdFeB.

Apart from immense power, neodymium magnets have the following advantages:

  • They do not lose their strength (of the magnet). After about 10 years, their power decreases by only ~1% (theoretically),
  • They protect against demagnetization caused by external magnetic sources extremely well,
  • In other words, thanks to the glossy nickel, gold, or silver finish, the element gains an visually attractive appearance,
  • They have exceptionally high magnetic induction on the surface of the magnet,
  • Magnetic neodymium magnets are characterized by hugely high magnetic induction on the surface of the magnet and can operate (depending on the form) even at temperatures of 230°C or higher...
  • Due to the option of accurate forming or adaptation to individual needs – neodymium magnets can be produced in various forms and dimensions, which expands the range of their possible uses.
  • Wide application in advanced technologically fields – find application in computer drives, electric drive mechanisms, medical devices and very highly developed apparatuses.

Disadvantages of neodymium magnets:

  • They are fragile when subjected to a powerful impact. If the magnets are exposed to impacts, we recommend using magnets in a steel housing. The steel housing in the form of a holder protects the magnet from impacts, and at the same time increases its overall strength,
  • Magnets lose their strength due to exposure to high temperatures. In most cases, when the temperature exceeds 80°C, these magnets experience permanent loss in strength (although it is worth noting that this is dependent on the shape and size of the magnet). To avoid this problem, we offer special magnets marked with the [AH] symbol, which exhibit high temperature resistance. They can operate even at temperatures as high as 230°C or more,
  • Due to their susceptibility to corrosion in a humid environment, we recommend using waterproof magnets made of rubber, plastic, or other moisture-resistant materials when using them outdoors,
  • The use of a cover - a magnetic holder is recommended due to the limited production capabilities of creating threads or complex shapes in the magnet
  • Possible danger associated with microscopic parts of magnets can be dangerous, if swallowed, which becomes significant in the aspect of protecting young children. Furthermore, tiny parts of these products are able to complicate diagnosis in case of swallowing.

Safety Precautions

Magnets are not toys, youngest should not play with them.

Neodymium magnets are not toys. You cannot allow them to become toys for children. In such a situation, surgery is necessary to remove them. In the worst case scenario, it can result in death.

Neodymium magnets can become demagnetized at high temperatures.

Despite the fact that magnets have been found to maintain their efficacy up to temperatures of 80°C or 175°F, it's essential to consider that this threshold may fluctuate depending on the magnet's type, configuration, and intended usage.

Avoid contact with neodymium magnets if you have a nickel allergy.

Studies show a small percentage of people have allergies to certain metals, including nickel. An allergic reaction often manifests as skin redness and rash. If you have a nickel allergy, you can try wearing gloves or simply avoid direct contact with nickel-plated neodymium magnets.

Dust and powder from neodymium magnets are flammable.

Do not attempt to drill into neodymium magnets. Mechanical processing is also not recommended. If the magnet is crushed into fine powder or dust, it becomes highly flammable.

Neodymium Magnets can attract to each other due to their immense internal force, causing the skin and other body parts to get pinched and resulting in significant injuries.

If the joining of neodymium magnets is not controlled, then they may crumble and also crack. You can't move them to each other. At a distance less than 10 cm you should hold them very strongly.

Keep neodymium magnets away from people with pacemakers.

Neodymium magnets generate very strong magnetic fields that can interfere with the operation of a pacemaker. This happens because such devices have a function to deactivate them in a magnetic field.

Do not bring neodymium magnets close to GPS and smartphones.

Magnetic fields generated by neodymium magnets interfere with compasses and magnetometers used in navigation, as well as internal compasses of smartphones and GPS devices.

Keep neodymium magnets away from TV, wallet, and computer HDD.

The strong magnetic field generated by neodymium magnets can damage magnetic media such as floppy disks, video tapes, HDDs, credit cards, magnetic ID cards, cassette tapes, or other devices. They can also damage devices like video players, televisions, CRT computer monitors. Remember not to place neodymium magnets close to these electronic devices.

Neodymium magnets are the most powerful, most remarkable magnets on earth, and the surprising force between them can shock you at first.

Read the information on our website on how to properly utilize neodymium magnets and avoid significant harm to your body and unintentional disruption to the magnets.

Neodymium magnetic are particularly fragile, which leads to their breakage.

Neodymium magnets are characterized by significant fragility. Neodymium magnets are made of metal and coated with a shiny nickel, but they are not as durable as steel. At the moment of connection between the magnets, small metal fragments can be dispersed in different directions.
