Neodymium magnets MP 62x42x25 / N38 in a ring-shaped form are commonly used in various industries due to their unique properties. Thanks to a powerful magnetic field of 59.85 kg, which can be described as force, they are extremely useful in applications that require high magnetic power in a compact space. Applications of MP 62x42x25 / N38 magnets include electric motors, generating systems, audio systems, and numerous other devices that use magnets for generating motion or energy storage. Despite their powerful strength, they have a comparatively low weight of 306.31 grams, which makes them more convenient to use compared to bulkier alternatives.

Advantages and disadvantages of neodymium magnets NdFeB.

In addition to immense power, neodymium magnets have the following advantages:

  • They do not lose power over time. After 10 years, their strength decreases by only ~1% (theoretically),
  • They are highly resistant to demagnetization by external magnetic field,
  • Thanks to the shiny finish and nickel, gold, or silver coating, they have an aesthetic appearance,
  • They possess very high magnetic induction on the surface of the magnet,
  • Magnetic neodymium magnets are characterized by hugely high magnetic induction on the surface of the magnet and can operate (depending on the shape) even at temperatures of 230°C or higher...
  • The ability for precise shaping or customization to specific needs – neodymium magnets can be produced in various forms and dimensions, which amplifies their universality in usage.
  • Wide application in the industry of new technologies – are used in computer drives, electric motors, medical equipment and various technologically advanced devices.

Disadvantages of neodymium magnets:

  • They are prone to breaking as they are extremely fragile when subjected to a powerful impact. If the magnets are exposed to impacts, we recommend using magnets in a protective case. The steel housing in the form of a holder protects the magnet from impacts and simultaneously increases its overall strength,
  • They lose strength at high temperatures. Most neodymium magnets experience permanent loss of strength when heated above 80°C (depending on the shape and height). However, we also offer special magnets with high temperature resistance, up to 230°C,
  • They rust in a humid environment. For outdoor use, we recommend using waterproof magnets, such as those made of rubber or plastic,
  • The use of a cover - a magnetic holder is recommended due to the limited production capabilities of creating threads or complex shapes in the magnet
  • Health risk associated with microscopic parts of magnets pose a threat, if swallowed, which is particularly important in the context of children's health. Furthermore, miniscule components of these magnets have the potential to be problematic in medical diagnosis in case of swallowing.

Precautions

Neodymium magnetic are especially delicate, resulting in their breakage.

Magnets made of neodymium are highly delicate, and by joining them in an uncontrolled manner, they will crumble. Neodymium magnets are made of metal and coated with a shiny nickel surface, but they are not as hard as steel. In the event of a collision between two magnets, there may be a scattering of fragments in different directions. Protecting your eyes is crucial in such a situation.

The magnet coating is made of nickel, so be cautious if you have an allergy.

Studies show a small percentage of people have allergies to certain metals, including nickel. An allergic reaction often manifests as skin redness and rash. If you have a nickel allergy, you can try wearing gloves or simply avoid direct contact with nickel-plated neodymium magnets.

Avoid bringing neodymium magnets close to a phone or GPS.

Magnetic fields interfere with compasses and magnetometers used in navigation for air and sea transport, as well as internal compasses of smartphones and GPS devices.

Neodymium magnets are the most powerful magnets ever invented. Their strength can shock you.

Please review the information on how to handle neodymium magnets and avoid significant harm to your body, as well as prevent unintentional damage to the magnets.

Magnets should not be treated as toys. Therefore, it is not recommended for youngest children to have access to them.

Not all neodymium magnets are toys, so do not let children play with them. In the case of small magnets, they can be swallowed and cause choking. In such cases, the only solution is to undergo surgery to remove the magnets, and otherwise, it can even lead to death.

Dust and powder from neodymium magnets are flammable.

Do not attempt to drill into neodymium magnets. Mechanical processing is also not recommended. If the magnet is crushed into fine powder or dust, it becomes highly flammable.

Keep neodymium magnets away from TV, wallet, and computer HDD.

Strong fields generated by neodymium magnets can damage magnetic storage media such as floppy disks, credit cards, magnetic ID cards, cassette tapes, video tapes, or other similar devices. In addition, they can damage televisions, VCRs, computer monitors, and CRT displays. You should especially avoid placing neodymium magnets near electronic devices.

Neodymium magnets should not be near people with pacemakers.

Neodymium magnets generate strong magnetic fields. As a result, they interfere with the operation of a pacemaker. This happens because such devices have a function to deactivate them in a magnetic field.

Neodymium magnets can attract to each other, pinch the skin, and cause significant injuries.

Neodymium magnets jump and clash mutually within a radius of several to around 10 cm from each other.

Neodymium magnets can become demagnetized at high temperatures.

Although magnets have demonstrated their effectiveness up to 80°C or 175°F, the temperature can vary depending on the type, shape, and intended use of the specific magnet.

So that know how powerful neodymium magnets are and why they are so dangerous, read the article - Dangerous very strong neodymium magnets.
