Neodymium magnets MP 5x2.7/1.2x5 C / N38 in a ring form are frequently used in various industries due to their unique properties. Thanks to a powerful magnetic field of 0.56 kg, which can be described as lifting capacity, they are very helpful in applications that require high magnetic power in a compact space. Applications of MP 5x2.7/1.2x5 C / N38 magnets include electrical mechanisms, generators, audio systems, and many other devices that use magnets for generating motion or energy storage. Despite their powerful strength, they have a comparatively low weight of 0.62 grams, which makes them more convenient to use compared to bulkier alternatives.

Product suggestions

Advantages and disadvantages of neodymium magnets NdFeB.

In addition to immense strength, neodymium magnets have the following advantages:

  • They do not lose strength over time - after approximately 10 years, their strength decreases by only ~1% (theoretically),
  • They are highly resistant to demagnetization by external magnetic field,
  • By applying a shiny coating of nickel, gold, or silver, the element gains an aesthetic appearance,
  • They exhibit very high magnetic induction on the surface of the magnet,
  • By using an appropriate combination of materials, they can achieve high thermal resistance, allowing them to operate at temperatures up to 230°C and above...
  • Thanks to the flexibility in shaping or the ability to adapt to specific requirements – neodymium magnets can be produced in a wide range of shapes and sizes, which expands the range of their possible uses.
  • Key role in modern technologies – are utilized in HDD drives, electric drive mechanisms, medical devices or other highly developed apparatuses.

Disadvantages of neodymium magnets:

  • They are prone to breaking as they are extremely fragile when subjected to a strong impact. If the magnets are exposed to impacts, it is suggested using magnets in a protective case. The steel housing in the form of a holder protects the magnet from impacts and also increases its overall strength,
  • Magnets lose their power due to exposure to high temperatures. In most cases, when the temperature exceeds 80°C, these magnets experience permanent loss in strength (although it is worth noting that this is dependent on the shape and size of the magnet). To avoid this problem, we offer special magnets marked with the [AH] symbol, which exhibit high temperature resistance. They can operate even at temperatures as high as 230°C or more,
  • They rust in a humid environment. For outdoor use, we recommend using waterproof magnets, such as those made of rubber or plastic,
  • Limited ability to create threads or complex shapes in the magnet - the use of a housing is recommended - magnetic holder
  • Health risk arising from small pieces of magnets pose a threat, if swallowed, which becomes significant in the context of child safety. Furthermore, tiny parts of these products have the potential to hinder the diagnostic process when they are in the body.

Exercise Caution with Neodymium Magnets

Do not bring neodymium magnets close to GPS and smartphones.

Magnetic fields interfere with compasses and magnetometers used in navigation for air and sea transport, as well as internal compasses of smartphones and GPS devices.

Dust and powder from neodymium magnets are highly flammable.

Avoid drilling or mechanical processing of neodymium magnets. Once crushed into fine powder or dust, this material becomes highly flammable.

Make sure not to bring neodymium magnets close to the TV, wallet, and computer HDD.

Strong fields generated by neodymium magnets can damage magnetic storage media such as floppy disks, credit cards, magnetic ID cards, cassette tapes, video tapes, or other similar devices. They can also damage televisions, VCRs, computer monitors, and CRT displays. Avoid placing neodymium magnets in close proximity to electronic devices.

Neodymium magnets are noted for being fragile, which can cause them to become damaged.

Neodymium magnets are characterized by significant fragility. Magnets made of neodymium are made of metal and coated with a shiny nickel, but they are not as durable as steel. At the moment of collision between the magnets, small metal fragments can be dispersed in different directions.

Do not give neodymium magnets to youngest children.

Neodymium magnets are not toys. You cannot allow them to become toys for children. In such a situation, surgery is necessary to remove them. In the worst case scenario, it can result in death.

The magnet coating is made of nickel, so be cautious if you have an allergy.

Studies show a small percentage of people have allergies to certain metals, including nickel. An allergic reaction often manifests as skin redness and rash. If you have a nickel allergy, try wearing gloves or avoid direct contact with nickel-plated neodymium magnets.

It is crucial not to allow the magnets to pinch together uncontrollably or place your fingers in their path as they attract to each other.

Neodymium magnets bounce and also clash mutually within a radius of several to around 10 cm from each other.

Neodymium magnets are among the strongest magnets on Earth. The astonishing force they generate between each other can surprise you.

Please review the information on how to handle neodymium magnets and avoid significant harm to your body, as well as prevent unintentional damage to the magnets.

Neodymium magnets should not be near people with pacemakers.

In the case of neodymium magnets, there is a strong magnetic field. As a result, it interferes with the operation of a heart pacemaker. Even if the magnetic field does not affect the device, it can damage its components or deactivate the entire device.

Neodymium magnets can become demagnetized at high temperatures.

While Neodymium magnets can demagnetize at high temperatures, it's important to note that the extent of this effect can vary based on factors such as the magnet's material, shape, and intended application.

Please see the article - What danger lies in neodymium magnets? You will learn how to handle them properly.
