Due to unique properties, neodymium magnet MP 5x1.5x3 / N38 in a ring form finds extensive use in various industries. Thanks to a powerful magnetic field of 0.56 kg, which can be described as strength, they are very helpful in applications that require high magnetic power in a compact space. Applications of MP 5x1.5x3 / N38 magnets include electrical mechanisms, generating systems, audio systems, and many other devices that use magnets for generating motion or storing energy. Despite their significant strength, they have a comparatively low weight of 0.04 grams, which makes them more convenient to use compared to bulkier alternatives.

Advantages as well as disadvantages of neodymium magnets NdFeB.

In addition to immense power, neodymium magnets have the following advantages:

  • They do not lose their strength (of the magnet). After about 10 years, their power decreases by only ~1% (theoretically),
  • They are highly resistant to demagnetization by external magnetic sources,
  • In other words, thanks to the shiny nickel, gold, or silver finish, the element gains an visually attractive appearance,
  • They exhibit very high magnetic induction on the surface of the magnet,
  • Thanks to their high temperature resistance, they can operate (depending on the shape) even at temperatures up to 230°C and above...
  • Due to the option of accurate forming or adaptation to individual needs – neodymium magnets can be produced in various forms and dimensions, which enhances their versatility in applications.
  • Significant importance in modern technologies – are utilized in hard drives, electric motors, medical equipment and other advanced devices.

Disadvantages of neodymium magnets:

  • They can break as they are extremely fragile when subjected to a powerful impact. If the magnets are exposed to impacts, it is suggested using magnets in a steel housing. The steel housing in the form of a holder protects the magnet from impacts and simultaneously increases its overall strength,
  • They lose strength at high temperatures. Most neodymium magnets experience permanent loss of strength when heated above 80°C (depending on the form and height). However, we also offer special magnets with high temperature resistance, up to 230°C,
  • Due to their susceptibility to corrosion in a humid environment, we suggest using waterproof magnets made of rubber, plastic, or other moisture-resistant materials when using them outdoors,
  • The use of a cover - a magnetic holder is recommended due to the limited production capabilities of creating threads or complex shapes in the magnet
  • Potential hazard associated with microscopic parts of magnets are risky, when accidentally ingested, which becomes significant in the aspect of protecting young children. It's also worth noting that small elements of these products have the potential to complicate diagnosis after entering the body.

Caution with Neodymium Magnets

Dust and powder from neodymium magnets are flammable.

Do not attempt to drill into neodymium magnets. Mechanical processing is also not recommended. If the magnet is crushed into fine powder or dust, it becomes highly flammable.

Keep neodymium magnets as far away as possible from GPS and smartphones.

Intense magnetic fields generated by neodymium magnets interfere with compasses and magnetometers used in navigation, as well as internal compasses of smartphones and GPS devices.

Neodymium magnets should not be in the vicinity children.

Not all neodymium magnets are toys, so do not let children play with them. In such a situation, surgery is necessary to remove them. In the worst case scenario, it can result in death.

Neodymium magnets are the most powerful magnets ever invented. Their strength can shock you.

To handle magnets properly, it is best to familiarize yourself with our information beforehand. This will help you avoid significant harm to your body and the magnets themselves.

Magnets made of neodymium are highly susceptible to damage, leading to their cracking.

In the event of a collision between two neodymium magnets, it can result in them getting chipped. Despite being made of metal and coated with a shiny nickel plating, they are not as hard as steel. At the moment of connection between the magnets, tiny sharp metal fragments can be propelled in various directions at high speed. Eye protection is recommended.

Neodymium magnets should not be near people with pacemakers.

Neodymium magnets produce strong magnetic fields that can interfere with the operation of a heart pacemaker. Even if the magnetic field does not affect the device, it can damage its components or deactivate the entire device.

Keep neodymium magnets away from the wallet, computer, and TV.

Magnetic fields generated by neodymium magnets can damage magnetic storage media such as floppy disks, credit cards, magnetic ID cards, cassette tapes, video tapes, or other similar devices. In addition, they can damage televisions, VCRs, computer monitors, and CRT displays. You should especially avoid placing neodymium magnets near electronic devices.

Magnets will attract to each other, so remember not to allow them to pinch together without control or place your fingers in their path.

Neodymium magnets bounce and also touch each other mutually within a radius of several to almost 10 cm from each other.

Neodymium magnets can become demagnetized at high temperatures.

Although magnets have demonstrated their effectiveness up to 80°C or 175°F, the temperature can vary depending on the type, shape, and intended use of the specific magnet.

The magnet coating is made of nickel, so be cautious if you have an allergy.

Studies clearly indicate a small percentage of people who suffer from metal allergies such as nickel. An allergic reaction often manifests as skin redness and rash. If you have a nickel allergy, try wearing gloves or avoid direct contact with nickel-plated neodymium magnets.
