Due to specific properties, neodymium element MP 5x1.5x3 / N38 in a ring form finds extensive use in various industries. Thanks to a powerful magnetic field of 0.56 kg, which can be described as lifting capacity, they are very helpful in applications that require strong magnetism in a relatively small area. Applications of MP 5x1.5x3 / N38 magnets include electrical mechanisms, generators, sound devices, and several other devices that use magnets for producing motion or storing energy. Despite their significant strength, they have a comparatively low weight of 0.04 grams, which makes them more practical compared to heavier alternatives.

Advantages as well as disadvantages of neodymium magnets NdFeB.

Apart from immense strength, neodymium magnets have the following advantages:

  • They do not lose their strength (of the magnet). After about 10 years, their power decreases by only ~1% (theoretically),
  • They protect against demagnetization caused by external magnetic sources extremely well,
  • By applying a shiny coating of nickel, gold, or silver, the element gains an aesthetic appearance,
  • They have very high magnetic induction on the surface of the magnet,
  • Thanks to their high temperature resistance, they can operate (depending on the form) even at temperatures up to 230°C and above...
  • Due to the option of accurate forming or adaptation to individual needs – neodymium magnets can be produced in many variants of shapes or sizes, which expands the range of their possible uses.
  • Key role in modern technologies – are used in computer drives, electric drive mechanisms, medical apparatus and very highly developed apparatuses.

Disadvantages of neodymium magnets:

  • They are fragile when subjected to a powerful impact. If the magnets are exposed to impacts, we recommend using magnets in a steel housing. The steel housing in the form of a holder protects the magnet from impacts, and at the same time increases its overall strength,
  • High temperatures can reduce the power of neodymium magnets. Typically, after heating above 80°C, most of them experience a permanent reduction in strength (although it is dependent on the shape and size). To prevent this, we offer special magnets marked with the symbol [AH], which are highly resistant to high temperatures. They can operate even at temperatures up to 230°C, making them an ideal solution for applications requiring high-temperature operation,
  • Magnets exposed to a humid environment can corrode. Therefore, when using them outdoors, we recommend using waterproof magnets made of rubber, plastic, or other moisture-resistant materials,
  • The use of a cover or a magnetic holder is recommended due to the limited possibilities of manufacturing threads or complex shapes in the magnet
  • Possible danger associated with microscopic parts of magnets are risky, if swallowed, which becomes significant in the aspect of protecting young children. Additionally, tiny parts of these devices are able to be problematic in medical diagnosis in case of swallowing.

Handle with Care: Neodymium Magnets

Dust and powder from neodymium magnets are highly flammable.

Avoid drilling or mechanical processing of neodymium magnets. If the magnet is crushed into fine powder or dust, it becomes highly flammable.

It is crucial not to allow the magnets to pinch together uncontrollably or place your fingers in their path as they attract to each other.

Magnets will attract each other within a distance of several to about 10 cm from each other. Remember not to insert fingers between magnets or alternatively in their path when attract. Depending on how huge the neodymium magnets are, they can lead to a cut or alternatively a fracture.

Keep neodymium magnets away from people with pacemakers.

Neodymium magnets generate strong magnetic fields. As a result, they interfere with the operation of a pacemaker. This happens because such devices have a function to deactivate them in a magnetic field.

If you have a nickel allergy, avoid contact with neodymium magnets.

Studies show a small percentage of people have allergies to certain metals, including nickel. An allergic reaction often manifests as skin redness and rash. If you have a nickel allergy, you can try wearing gloves or simply avoid direct contact with nickel-plated neodymium magnets.

Neodymium magnets are over 10 times stronger than ferrite magnets (the ones in speakers), and their strength can shock you.

On our website, you can find information on how to use neodymium magnets. This will help you avoid injuries and prevent damage to the magnets.

Under no circumstances should neodymium magnets be brought close to GPS and smartphones.

Neodymium magnets produce intense magnetic fields that interfere with magnetometers and compasses used in navigation, as well as internal compasses of smartphones and GPS devices.

Neodymium magnets can become demagnetized at high temperatures.

Although magnets are generally resilient, their ability to maintain their magnetic potency can be influenced by factors like the type of material used, the magnet's shape, and the intended purpose for which it is employed.

Magnets made of neodymium are extremely fragile, they easily fall apart as well as can crumble.

Neodymium magnetic are fragile and will break if allowed to collide with each other, even from a distance of a few centimeters. Despite being made of metal and coated with a shiny nickel plating, they are not as hard as steel. In the case of a collision between two magnets, there can be a scattering of small sharp metal fragments in different directions. Protecting your eyes is essential.

Neodymium magnets should not be in the vicinity youngest children.

Remember that neodymium magnets are not toys. Do not allow children to play with them. Small magnets can pose a serious choking hazard. If multiple magnets are swallowed, they can attract to each other through the intestinal walls, causing significant injuries, and even death.

Under no circumstances should neodymium magnets be placed near a computer HDD, TV, and wallet.

Neodymium magnets generate strong magnetic fields that can damage magnetic media such as floppy disks, video tapes, HDDs, credit cards, magnetic ID cards, cassette tapes, or other devices. They can also destroy videos, televisions, CRT computer monitors. Do not forget to keep neodymium magnets at a safe distance from these electronic devices.
