Neodymium magnets MP 5x1.5x3 / N38 in a ring-shaped form are regularly used in various industries due to their specific properties. Thanks to a powerful magnetic field of ${capacity} kg, which can be described as strength, they are very helpful in applications that require strong magnetism in a relatively small area. Applications of MP 5x1.5x3 / N38 magnets include electric motors, generators, audio systems, and numerous other devices that use magnets for producing motion or storing energy. Despite their powerful strength, they have a relatively low weight of ${weight} grams, which makes them more practical compared to heavier alternatives.

Product suggestions

Advantages and disadvantages of neodymium magnets NdFeB.

In addition to immense strength, neodymium magnets have the following advantages:

  • They do not lose their strength (of the magnet). After about 10 years, their strength decreases by only ~1% (theoretically),
  • They are highly resistant to demagnetization by external magnetic field,
  • In other words, thanks to the shiny nickel, gold, or silver finish, the element gains an visually attractive appearance,
  • They exhibit very high magnetic induction on the surface of the magnet,
  • By using an appropriate combination of materials, they can achieve high thermal resistance, allowing them to operate at temperatures up to 230°C and above...
  • The ability for precise shaping or customization to specific needs – neodymium magnets can be produced in many variants of shapes and sizes, which enhances their versatility in applications.
  • Wide application in modern technologies – find application in HDD drives, electric drive mechanisms, medical equipment and other modern machines.

Disadvantages of neodymium magnets:

  • They are prone to breaking as they are fragile when subjected to a strong impact. If the magnets are exposed to impacts, it is suggested using magnets in a metal holder. The steel housing in the form of a holder protects the magnet from impacts and simultaneously increases its overall strength,
  • Magnets lose their power due to exposure to high temperatures. In most cases, when the temperature exceeds 80°C, these magnets experience permanent loss in strength (although it is worth noting that this is dependent on the form and size of the magnet). To avoid this problem, we offer special magnets marked with the [AH] symbol, which exhibit high temperature resistance. They can operate even at temperatures as high as 230°C or more,
  • Due to their susceptibility to corrosion in a humid environment, we suggest using waterproof magnets made of rubber, plastic, or other moisture-resistant materials when using them outdoors,
  • Limited ability to create threads or complex shapes in the magnet - the use of a housing is recommended - magnetic holder
  • Possible danger to health from tiny fragments of magnets can be dangerous, when accidentally ingested, which becomes significant in the aspect of protecting young children. It's also worth noting that miniscule components of these devices have the potential to complicate diagnosis when they are in the body.

Safety Precautions

Comparing neodymium magnets to ferrite magnets (found in speakers), they are 10 times stronger, and their strength can surprise you.

Familiarize yourself with our information to correctly handle these magnets and avoid significant injuries to your body and prevent disruption to the magnets.

Dust and powder from neodymium magnets are highly flammable.

Avoid drilling or mechanical processing of neodymium magnets. If the magnet is crushed into fine powder or dust, it becomes highly flammable.

Neodymium Magnets can attract to each other, pinch the skin, and cause significant injuries.

In the case of holding a finger in the path of a neodymium magnet, in such a case, a cut or a fracture may occur.

Avoid bringing neodymium magnets close to a phone or GPS.

Magnetic fields interfere with compasses and magnetometers used in navigation for air and sea transport, as well as internal compasses of smartphones and GPS devices.

The magnet coating is made of nickel, so be cautious if you have an allergy.

Studies clearly indicate a small percentage of people who suffer from metal allergies such as nickel. An allergic reaction often manifests as skin redness and rash. If you have a nickel allergy, you can try wearing gloves or simply avoid direct contact with nickel-plated neodymium magnets.

Neodymium magnets are not recommended for people with pacemakers.

In the case of neodymium magnets, there is a strong magnetic field. As a result, it interferes with the operation of a heart pacemaker. Even if the magnetic field does not affect the device, it can damage its components or deactivate the entire device.

Keep neodymium magnets away from TV, wallet, and computer HDD.

Strong magnetic fields emitted by neodymium magnets can destroy magnetic storage media such as floppy disks, credit cards, magnetic ID cards, cassette tapes, video tapes, or other devices. In addition, they can damage televisions, VCRs, computer monitors, and CRT displays. Avoid placing neodymium magnets in close proximity to electronic devices.

Neodymium magnets are known for their fragility, which can cause them to shatter.

Neodymium magnets are highly fragile, and by joining them in an uncontrolled manner, they will crumble. Neodymium magnets are made of metal and coated with a shiny nickel surface, but they are not as hard as steel. In the event of a collision between two magnets, there may be a scattering of fragments in different directions. Protecting your eyes is crucial in such a situation.

Magnets should not be treated as toys. Therefore, it is not recommended for children to have access to them.

Remember that neodymium magnets are not toys. Be cautious and make sure no child plays with them. They can be a significant choking hazard. If multiple magnets are swallowed, they can attract to each other through the intestinal walls, causing significant injuries, and even death.

Neodymium magnets can demagnetize at high temperatures.

Whilst Neodymium magnets can demagnetize at high temperatures, it's important to note that the extent of this effect can vary based on factors such as the magnet's material, shape, and intended application.

Please see the article - What danger lies in neodymium magnets? You will learn how to handle them properly.
