Neodymium magnets MP 40x20x5 / N38 in a ring-shaped form are regularly used in various industries due to their specific properties. Thanks to a powerful magnetic field of 5.70 kg, which can be described as force, they are key in applications that require high magnetic power in a compact space. Applications of MP 40x20x5 / N38 magnets include electrical mechanisms, generating systems, sound devices, and numerous other devices that use magnets for producing motion or storing energy. Despite their significant strength, they have a comparatively low weight of 35.34 grams, which makes them more practical compared to heavier alternatives.

Product suggestions

Advantages and disadvantages of neodymium magnets NdFeB.

In addition to immense power, neodymium magnets have the following advantages:

  • They do not lose strength over time - after 10 years, their power decreases by only ~1% (theoretically),
  • They protect against demagnetization caused by external magnetic sources very well,
  • Thanks to the shiny finish and nickel, gold, or silver coating, they have an aesthetic appearance,
  • They have exceptionally high magnetic induction on the surface of the magnet,
  • By using an appropriate combination of materials, they can achieve significant thermal resistance, allowing them to operate at temperatures up to 230°C and above...
  • The ability for precise shaping or customization to specific needs – neodymium magnets can be produced in a wide range of shapes and sizes, which amplifies their universality in usage.
  • Key role in advanced technologically fields – find application in hard drives, electric motors, medical apparatus or other highly developed apparatuses.

Disadvantages of neodymium magnets:

  • They can break when subjected to a strong impact. If the magnets are exposed to impacts, we recommend using magnets in a protective case. The steel housing in the form of a holder protects the magnet from impacts and at the same time increases its overall strength,
  • High temperatures can reduce the power of neodymium magnets. Typically, after heating above 80°C, most of them experience a permanent loss in strength (although it is dependent on the shape and size). To prevent this, we offer special magnets marked with the symbol [AH], which are highly resistant to high temperatures. They can operate even at temperatures up to 230°C, making them an ideal solution for applications requiring high-temperature operation,
  • Magnets exposed to a humid environment can corrode. Therefore, when using them outdoors, we suggest using waterproof magnets made of rubber, plastic, or other moisture-resistant materials,
  • The use of a cover or a magnetic holder is recommended due to the limited possibilities of manufacturing threads or complex shapes in the magnet
  • Potential hazard to health from tiny fragments of magnets are risky, in case of ingestion, which is particularly important in the context of child safety. It's also worth noting that miniscule components of these products are able to hinder the diagnostic process when they are in the body.

Notes with Neodymium Magnets

Neodymium magnets can attract to each other, pinch the skin, and cause significant injuries.

Magnets may crack or alternatively crumble with careless connecting to each other. You can't move them to each other. At a distance less than 10 cm you should hold them very firmly.

Keep neodymium magnets away from people with pacemakers.

Neodymium magnets produce strong magnetic fields that can interfere with the operation of a heart pacemaker. However, if the magnetic field does not affect the device, it can damage its components or deactivate the device when it is in a magnetic field.

Maintain neodymium magnets away from children.

Neodymium magnets are not toys. You cannot allow them to become toys for children. In the case of small magnets, they can be swallowed and cause choking. In such cases, the only solution is to undergo surgery to remove the magnets, and otherwise, it can even lead to death.

Avoid contact with neodymium magnets if you have a nickel allergy.

Studies show a small percentage of people have allergies to certain metals, including nickel. An allergic reaction often manifests as skin redness and rash. If you have a nickel allergy, you can try wearing gloves or simply avoid direct contact with nickel-plated neodymium magnets.

Neodymium magnets can become demagnetized at high temperatures.

Whilst Neodymium magnets can lose their magnetic properties at high temperatures, it's important to note that the extent of this effect can vary based on factors such as the magnet's material, shape, and intended application.

Do not bring neodymium magnets close to GPS and smartphones.

Neodymium magnets are a source of strong magnetic fields that cause interference with magnetometers and compasses used in navigation, as well as internal compasses of smartphones and GPS devices.

Neodymium magnetic are highly fragile, they easily crack and can become damaged.

Neodymium magnets are characterized by significant fragility. Neodymium magnets are made of metal and coated with a shiny nickel surface, but they are not as hard as steel. At the moment of connection between the magnets, sharp metal fragments can be dispersed in different directions.

Dust and powder from neodymium magnets are flammable.

Avoid drilling or mechanical processing of neodymium magnets. Once crushed into fine powder or dust, this material becomes highly flammable.

Comparing neodymium magnets to ferrite magnets (found in speakers), they are 10 times stronger, and their strength can surprise you.

Make sure to review all the information we have provided. This will help you avoid harm to your body and damage to the magnets.

Keep neodymium magnets away from the wallet, computer, and TV.

Neodymium magnets produce intense magnetic fields that can destroy magnetic media such as floppy disks, video tapes, HDDs, credit cards, magnetic ID cards, cassette tapes, or other devices. They can also destroy videos, televisions, CRT computer monitors. Do not forget to keep neodymium magnets away from these electronic devices.
