Neodymium magnets MP 40x10.4/5.5x5 / N38 in a ring form are regularly used in various industries due to their specific properties. Thanks to a powerful magnetic field of ${capacity} kg, which can be described as strength, they are extremely useful in applications that require high magnetic power in a compact space. Applications of MP 40x10.4/5.5x5 / N38 magnets include electric motors, generating systems, audio systems, and numerous other devices that use magnets for producing motion or storing energy. Despite their powerful strength, they have a relatively low weight of ${weight} grams, which makes them more practical compared to heavier alternatives.

Shopping tips

Advantages and disadvantages of neodymium magnets NdFeB.

In addition to immense power, neodymium magnets have the following advantages:

  • They do not lose their power (of the magnet). After approximately 10 years, their strength decreases by only ~1% (theoretically),
  • They are exceptionally resistant to demagnetization caused by an external magnetic field,
  • By applying a shiny coating of nickel, gold, or silver, the element gains an aesthetic appearance,
  • They exhibit extremely high magnetic induction on the surface of the magnet,
  • Magnetic neodymium magnets are characterized by hugely high magnetic induction on the surface of the magnet and can operate (depending on the shape) even at temperatures of 230°C or higher...
  • Due to the option of accurate forming or adaptation to individual needs – neodymium magnets can be produced in various forms and dimensions, which enhances their versatility in applications.
  • Key role in modern technologies – are utilized in HDD drives, electric drive mechanisms, medical apparatus and other highly developed apparatuses.

Disadvantages of neodymium magnets:

  • They are fragile when subjected to a strong impact. If the magnets are exposed to impacts, we recommend using magnets in a metal holder. The steel housing in the form of a holder protects the magnet from impacts, and at the same time increases its overall strength,
  • They lose power at high temperatures. Most neodymium magnets experience permanent loss of strength when heated above 80°C (depending on the form and height). However, we also offer special magnets with high temperature resistance, up to 230°C,
  • Magnets exposed to a humid environment can corrode. Therefore, when using them outdoors, we recommend using waterproof magnets made of rubber, plastic, or other moisture-resistant materials,
  • The use of a cover - a magnetic holder is recommended due to the limited production capabilities of creating threads or complex shapes in the magnet
  • Potential hazard associated with microscopic parts of magnets pose a threat, when accidentally ingested, which becomes significant in the context of child safety. Additionally, miniscule components of these devices are able to complicate diagnosis in case of swallowing.

Exercise Caution with Neodymium Magnets

Keep neodymium magnets far from children.

Not all neodymium magnets are toys, so do not let children play with them. In such a situation, surgery is necessary to remove them. In the worst case scenario, it can result in death.

Neodymium magnets can attract to each other, pinch the skin, and cause significant swellings.

Magnets attract each other within a distance of several to around 10 cm from each other. Don't put your fingers in the path of magnet attraction, as a serious injury may occur. Depending on how massive the neodymium magnets are, they can lead to a cut or a fracture.

Neodymium magnets should not be near people with pacemakers.

In the case of neodymium magnets, there is a strong magnetic field. As a result, it interferes with the operation of a heart pacemaker. Even if the magnetic field does not affect the device, it can damage its components or deactivate the entire device.

Neodymium magnets are among the strongest magnets on Earth. The surprising force they generate between each other can surprise you.

On our website, you can find information on how to use neodymium magnets. This will help you avoid injuries and prevent damage to the magnets.

Never bring neodymium magnets close to a phone and GPS.

Magnetic fields can interfere with compasses and magnetometers used in aviation and maritime navigation, as well as internal compasses of smartphones and GPS devices. There are neodymium magnets in every smartphone, for example, in the microphone and speakers.

The magnet coating is made of nickel, so be cautious if you have an allergy.

Studies clearly indicate a small percentage of people who suffer from metal allergies such as nickel. An allergic reaction often manifests as skin redness and rash. If you have a nickel allergy, try wearing gloves or avoid direct contact with nickel-plated neodymium magnets.

Neodymium magnets are characterized by their fragility, which can cause them to shatter.

Neodymium magnets are characterized by significant fragility. Neodymium magnetic are made of metal and coated with a shiny nickel, but they are not as durable as steel. In the event of a collision between two magnets, there may be a scattering of fragments in different directions. Protecting your eyes is crucial in such a situation.

Neodymium magnets can become demagnetized at high temperatures.

Although magnets have shown to retain their effectiveness up to 80°C or 175°F, this temperature may vary depending on the type of material, shape, and intended use of the magnet.

Keep neodymium magnets away from TV, wallet, and computer HDD.

Strong fields generated by neodymium magnets can damage magnetic storage media such as floppy disks, credit cards, magnetic ID cards, cassette tapes, video tapes, or other similar devices. They can also damage televisions, VCRs, computer monitors, and CRT displays. You should especially avoid placing neodymium magnets near electronic devices.

Dust and powder from neodymium magnets are flammable.

Avoid drilling or mechanical processing of neodymium magnets. Once crushed into fine powder or dust, this material becomes highly flammable.

So you are aware of why neodymium magnets are so dangerous, read the article titled How very dangerous are very strong neodymium magnets?.
