Due to unique properties, neodymium magnet MP 25x5x5 / N38 in a ring form finds extensive use in various industries. Thanks to a powerful magnetic field of 1.43 kg, which can be described as lifting capacity, they are key in applications that require high magnetic power in a relatively small area. Applications of MP 25x5x5 / N38 magnets include electrical mechanisms, generators, audio systems, and many other devices that use magnets for producing motion or storing energy. Despite their powerful strength, they have a comparatively low weight of 17.67 grams, which makes them more convenient to use compared to heavier alternatives.

Advantages and disadvantages of neodymium magnets NdFeB.

In addition to immense power, neodymium magnets have the following advantages:

  • They do not lose power over time. After 10 years, their power decreases by only ~1% (theoretically),
  • They are highly resistant to demagnetization by external magnetic field,
  • Thanks to the shiny finish and nickel, gold, or silver coating, they have an aesthetic appearance,
  • They have exceptionally high magnetic induction on the surface of the magnet,
  • Magnetic neodymium magnets are characterized by hugely high magnetic induction on the surface of the magnet and can operate (depending on the form) even at temperatures of 230°C or higher...
  • Thanks to the flexibility in shaping or the ability to adapt to specific requirements – neodymium magnets can be produced in various forms and dimensions, which amplifies their universality in usage.
  • Key role in advanced technologically fields – find application in hard drives, electric motors, medical equipment and very highly developed apparatuses.

Disadvantages of neodymium magnets:

  • They can break when subjected to a strong impact. If the magnets are exposed to impacts, we recommend using magnets in a metal holder. The steel housing in the form of a holder protects the magnet from impacts, and at the same time increases its overall strength,
  • Magnets lose their power due to exposure to high temperatures. In most cases, when the temperature exceeds 80°C, these magnets experience permanent reduction in strength (although it is worth noting that this is dependent on the shape and size of the magnet). To avoid this problem, we offer special magnets marked with the [AH] symbol, which exhibit high temperature resistance. They can operate even at temperatures as high as 230°C or more,
  • Magnets exposed to a humid environment can corrode. Therefore, when using them outdoors, we suggest using waterproof magnets made of rubber, plastic, or other moisture-resistant materials,
  • The use of a cover or a magnetic holder is recommended due to the limited possibilities of manufacturing threads or complex shapes in the magnet
  • Health risk to health from tiny fragments of magnets are risky, if swallowed, which is crucial in the aspect of protecting young children. Furthermore, tiny parts of these magnets have the potential to complicate diagnosis after entering the body.

Handle Neodymium Magnets Carefully

It is crucial not to allow the magnets to pinch together uncontrollably or place your fingers in their path as they attract to each other.

Magnets attract each other within a distance of several to around 10 cm from each other. Remember not to insert fingers between magnets or in their path when attract. Depending on how massive the neodymium magnets are, they can lead to a cut or a fracture.

Neodymium magnets should not be in the vicinity youngest children.

Neodymium magnets are not toys. You cannot allow them to become toys for children. In the case of small magnets, they can be swallowed and cause choking. In such cases, the only solution is to undergo surgery to remove the magnets, and otherwise, it can even lead to death.

Make sure not to bring neodymium magnets close to the TV, wallet, and computer HDD.

Strong fields generated by neodymium magnets can damage magnetic storage media such as floppy disks, credit cards, magnetic ID cards, cassette tapes, video tapes, or other similar devices. They can also damage televisions, VCRs, computer monitors, and CRT displays. Avoid placing neodymium magnets in close proximity to electronic devices.

Dust and powder from neodymium magnets are flammable.

Avoid drilling or mechanical processing of neodymium magnets. Once crushed into fine powder or dust, this material becomes highly flammable.

Neodymium magnets are over 10 times more powerful than ferrite magnets (the ones in speakers), and their power can shock you.

Please review the information on how to handle neodymium magnets and avoid significant harm to your body, as well as prevent unintentional damage to the magnets.

Keep neodymium magnets away from GPS and smartphones.

Intense magnetic fields generated by neodymium magnets interfere with compasses and magnetometers used in navigation, as well as internal compasses of smartphones and GPS devices.

Magnets made of neodymium are fragile and can easily break and get damaged.

In the event of a collision between two neodymium magnets, it can result in them getting chipped. Despite being made of metal as well as coated with a shiny nickel plating, they are not as hard as steel. At the moment of connection between the magnets, tiny sharp metal fragments can be propelled in various directions at high speed. Eye protection is recommended.

Neodymium magnets should not be near people with pacemakers.

Neodymium magnets produce strong magnetic fields that can interfere with the operation of a heart pacemaker. However, if the magnetic field does not affect the device, it can damage its components or deactivate the device when it is in a magnetic field.

The magnet is coated with nickel - be careful if you have an allergy.

Studies show a small percentage of people have allergies to certain metals, including nickel. An allergic reaction often manifests as skin redness and rash. If you have a nickel allergy, you can try wearing gloves or simply avoid direct contact with nickel-plated neodymium magnets.

Neodymium magnets can become demagnetized at high temperatures.

Although magnets have shown to retain their effectiveness up to 80°C or 175°F, this temperature may vary depending on the type of material, shape, and intended use of the magnet.
