Neodymium magnets MP 25x5x5 / N38 in a ring-shaped form are commonly used in various industries due to their specific properties. Thanks to a powerful magnetic field of 1.43 kg, which can be described as force, they are key in applications that require strong magnetism in a compact space. Usage of MP 25x5x5 / N38 magnets include electric motors, generating systems, sound devices, and many other devices that use magnets for generating motion or energy storage. Despite their powerful strength, they have a comparatively low weight of 17.67 grams, which makes them more convenient to use compared to bulkier alternatives.

Advantages as well as disadvantages of neodymium magnets NdFeB.

Apart from immense power, neodymium magnets have the following advantages:

  • They do not lose their power (of the magnet). After approximately 10 years, their strength decreases by only ~1% (theoretically),
  • They are highly resistant to demagnetization by external magnetic field,
  • In other words, thanks to the shiny coating of nickel, gold, or silver, the element acquires an aesthetic appearance,
  • They exhibit very high magnetic induction on the surface of the magnet,
  • Thanks to their high temperature resistance, they can operate (depending on the form) even at temperatures up to 230°C and above...
  • Due to the option of accurate forming or adaptation to individual needs – neodymium magnets can be produced in various forms and dimensions, which expands the range of their possible uses.
  • Significant importance in advanced technologically fields – find application in hard drives, electric drive mechanisms, medical apparatus or very advanced devices.

Disadvantages of neodymium magnets:

  • They are prone to breaking as they are fragile when subjected to a powerful impact. If the magnets are exposed to impacts, it is suggested using magnets in a steel housing. The steel housing in the form of a holder protects the magnet from impacts and also increases its overall strength,
  • Magnets lose their power due to exposure to high temperatures. In most cases, when the temperature exceeds 80°C, these magnets experience permanent reduction in strength (although it is worth noting that this is dependent on the form and size of the magnet). To avoid this problem, we offer special magnets marked with the [AH] symbol, which exhibit high temperature resistance. They can operate even at temperatures as high as 230°C or more,
  • Due to their susceptibility to corrosion in a humid environment, we suggest using waterproof magnets made of rubber, plastic, or other moisture-resistant materials when using them outdoors,
  • Limited ability to create threads or complex shapes in the magnet - the use of a housing is recommended - magnetic holder
  • Possible danger associated with microscopic parts of magnets pose a threat, when accidentally ingested, which is crucial in the context of child safety. Additionally, tiny parts of these products are able to complicate diagnosis after entering the body.

Handle Neodymium Magnets Carefully

Neodymium magnetic are highly fragile, they easily crack as well as can become damaged.

Neodymium magnets are characterized by considerable fragility. Neodymium magnets are made of metal and coated with a shiny nickel surface, but they are not as hard as steel. In the event of a collision between two magnets, there may be a scattering of fragments in different directions. Protecting your eyes is crucial in such a situation.

Magnets should not be treated as toys. Therefore, it is not recommended for children to have access to them.

Remember that neodymium magnets are not toys. Do not allow children to play with them. Small magnets can pose a serious choking hazard. If multiple magnets are swallowed, they can attract to each other through the intestinal walls, causing severe injuries, and even death.

Avoid contact with neodymium magnets if you have a nickel allergy.

Studies clearly indicate a small percentage of people who suffer from metal allergies such as nickel. An allergic reaction often manifests as skin redness and rash. If you have a nickel allergy, you can try wearing gloves or simply avoid direct contact with nickel-plated neodymium magnets.

Neodymium magnets should not be near people with pacemakers.

Neodymium magnets generate very strong magnetic fields that can interfere with the operation of a pacemaker. This happens because such devices have a function to deactivate them in a magnetic field.

Keep neodymium magnets away from GPS and smartphones.

Magnetic fields can interfere with compasses and magnetometers used in aviation and maritime navigation, as well as internal compasses of smartphones and GPS devices. There are neodymium magnets in every smartphone, for example, in the microphone and speakers.

Dust and powder from neodymium magnets are highly flammable.

Do not attempt to drill into neodymium magnets. Mechanical processing is also not recommended. If the magnet is crushed into fine powder or dust, it becomes highly flammable.

Neodymium magnets can attract to each other, pinch the skin, and cause significant injuries.

Neodymium magnets will jump and also clash together within a radius of several to almost 10 cm from each other.

Make sure not to bring neodymium magnets close to the TV, wallet, and computer HDD.

Magnetic fields generated by neodymium magnets can damage magnetic storage media such as floppy disks, credit cards, magnetic ID cards, cassette tapes, video tapes, or other similar devices. They can also damage televisions, VCRs, computer monitors, and CRT displays. Avoid placing neodymium magnets in close proximity to electronic devices.

Neodymium magnets are the most powerful magnets ever created, and their power can surprise you.

Read the information on our website on how to properly utilize neodymium magnets and avoid significant harm to your body and unintentional damage to the magnets.

Neodymium magnets can demagnetize at high temperatures.

In certain circumstances, Neodymium magnets may experience demagnetization when subjected to high temperatures.
