Neodymium magnets MP 25x12.5x5 / N38 in a ring form are commonly used in various industries due to their specific properties. Thanks to a powerful magnetic field of 3.56 kg, which can be described as lifting capacity, they are very helpful in applications that require high magnetic power in a relatively small area. Applications of MP 25x12.5x5 / N38 magnets include electric motors, generating systems, sound devices, and several other devices that use magnets for producing motion or energy storage. Despite their significant strength, they have a relatively low weight of 13.81 grams, which makes them more practical compared to heavier alternatives.

Advantages as well as disadvantages of neodymium magnets NdFeB.

In addition to immense strength, neodymium magnets have the following advantages:

  • They do not lose power over time. After 10 years, their strength decreases by only ~1% (theoretically),
  • They are exceptionally resistant to demagnetization caused by an external magnetic field,
  • In other words, thanks to the shiny coating of nickel, gold, or silver, the element acquires an aesthetic appearance,
  • They exhibit very high magnetic induction on the surface of the magnet,
  • Magnetic neodymium magnets are characterized by very high magnetic induction on the surface of the magnet and can operate (depending on the shape) even at temperatures of 230°C or higher...
  • Due to the option of accurate forming or adaptation to individual needs – neodymium magnets can be produced in many variants of shapes or sizes, which amplifies their universality in usage.
  • Significant importance in the industry of new technologies – are used in computer drives, electric drive mechanisms, medical apparatus and very highly developed apparatuses.

Disadvantages of neodymium magnets:

  • They are prone to breaking as they are fragile when subjected to a strong impact. If the magnets are exposed to impacts, it is suggested using magnets in a metal holder. The steel housing in the form of a holder protects the magnet from impacts and also increases its overall strength,
  • High temperatures can reduce the power of neodymium magnets. Typically, after heating above 80°C, most of them experience a permanent reduction in strength (although it is dependent on the form and size). To prevent this, we offer special magnets marked with the symbol [AH], which are highly resistant to high temperatures. They can operate even at temperatures up to 230°C, making them an ideal solution for applications requiring high-temperature operation,
  • They rust in a humid environment - during outdoor use, we recommend using waterproof magnets, such as those made of rubber or plastic,
  • The use of a cover - a magnetic holder is recommended due to the limited production capabilities of creating threads or complex shapes in the magnet
  • Health risk to health from tiny fragments of magnets pose a threat, in case of ingestion, which becomes significant in the aspect of protecting young children. Furthermore, miniscule components of these devices have the potential to complicate diagnosis after entering the body.

Exercise Caution with Neodymium Magnets

Neodymium magnetic are highly fragile, they easily fall apart as well as can crumble.

In the event of a collision between two neodymium magnets, it can result in them getting chipped. They are coated with a shiny nickel plating similar to steel, but they are not as hard. In the case of a collision between two magnets, there can be a scattering of small sharp metal fragments in different directions. Protecting your eyes is essential.

Neodymium magnets should not be around youngest children.

Neodymium magnets are not toys. Be cautious and make sure no child plays with them. Small magnets can pose a serious choking hazard. If multiple magnets are swallowed, they can attract to each other through the intestinal walls, causing significant injuries, and even death.

Neodymium magnets can attract to each other, pinch the skin, and cause significant swellings.

If have a finger between or alternatively on the path of attracting magnets, there may be a serious cut or a fracture.

Dust and powder from neodymium magnets are flammable.

Do not attempt to drill into neodymium magnets. Mechanical processing is also not recommended. If the magnet is crushed into fine powder or dust, it becomes highly flammable.

The magnet is coated with nickel. Therefore, exercise caution if you have an allergy.

Studies show a small percentage of people have allergies to certain metals, including nickel. An allergic reaction often manifests as skin redness and rash. If you have a nickel allergy, you can try wearing gloves or simply avoid direct contact with nickel-plated neodymium magnets.

People with pacemakers are advised to avoid neodymium magnets.

Neodymium magnets generate strong magnetic fields. As a result, they interfere with the operation of a pacemaker. This happens because such devices have a function to deactivate them in a magnetic field.

Neodymium magnets can demagnetize at high temperatures.

Under specific conditions, Neodymium magnets may experience demagnetization when subjected to high temperatures.

Never bring neodymium magnets close to a phone and GPS.

Magnetic fields can interfere with compasses and magnetometers used in aviation and maritime navigation, as well as internal compasses of smartphones and GPS devices. There are neodymium magnets in every smartphone, for example, in the microphone and speakers.

Neodymium magnets are the most powerful magnets ever created, and their strength can surprise you.

Please review the information on how to handle neodymium magnets and avoid significant harm to your body, as well as prevent unintentional damage to the magnets.

Make sure not to bring neodymium magnets close to the TV, wallet, and computer HDD.

Neodymium magnets generate intense magnetic fields that can destroy magnetic media such as floppy disks, video tapes, HDDs, credit cards, magnetic ID cards, cassette tapes, etc. devices. They can also destroy videos, televisions, CRT computer monitors. Do not forget to keep neodymium magnets at a safe distance from these electronic devices.

So that know how powerful neodymium magnets are and why they are so dangerous, see the article - Dangerous very strong neodymium magnets.
