Neodymium magnets MP 24x16x2 / N38 in a ring form are commonly used in various industries due to their unique properties. Thanks to a powerful magnetic field of ${capacity} kg, which can be described as lifting capacity, they are very helpful in applications that require strong magnetism in a relatively small area. Applications of MP 24x16x2 / N38 magnets include electrical mechanisms, generating systems, audio systems, and numerous other devices that use magnets for generating motion or storing energy. Despite their powerful strength, they have a relatively low weight of ${weight} grams, which makes them more practical compared to bulkier alternatives.

Shopping tips

Advantages and disadvantages of neodymium magnets NdFeB.

Apart from immense power, neodymium magnets have the following advantages:

  • They do not lose power over time. After approximately 10 years, their power decreases by only ~1% (theoretically),
  • They protect against demagnetization caused by external magnetic sources extremely well,
  • Thanks to the shiny finish and nickel, gold, or silver coating, they have an aesthetic appearance,
  • They exhibit very high magnetic induction on the surface of the magnet,
  • Magnetic neodymium magnets are characterized by very high magnetic induction on the surface of the magnet and can operate (depending on the shape) even at temperatures of 230°C or higher...
  • Due to the option of accurate forming or adaptation to individual needs – neodymium magnets can be produced in many variants of shapes and sizes, which expands the range of their possible uses.
  • Key role in the industry of new technologies – are utilized in computer drives, electric drive mechanisms, medical apparatus or other highly developed apparatuses.

Disadvantages of neodymium magnets:

  • They can break when subjected to a strong impact. If the magnets are exposed to impacts, we recommend using magnets in a steel housing. The steel housing in the form of a holder protects the magnet from impacts and at the same time increases its overall strength,
  • High temperatures can reduce the power of neodymium magnets. Typically, after heating above 80°C, most of them experience a permanent reduction in strength (although it is dependent on the form and size). To prevent this, we offer special magnets marked with the symbol [AH], which are highly resistant to high temperatures. They can operate even at temperatures up to 230°C, making them an ideal solution for applications requiring high-temperature operation,
  • Due to their susceptibility to corrosion in a humid environment, we recommend using waterproof magnets made of rubber, plastic, or other moisture-resistant materials when using them outdoors,
  • The use of a cover - a magnetic holder is recommended due to the limited production capabilities of creating threads or complex shapes in the magnet
  • Possible danger arising from small pieces of magnets are risky, when accidentally ingested, which becomes significant in the aspect of protecting young children. Additionally, small elements of these devices are able to hinder the diagnostic process after entering the body.

Exercise Caution with Neodymium Magnets

Magnets should not be treated as toys. Therefore, it is not recommended for children to have access to them.

Remember that neodymium magnets are not toys. Be cautious and make sure no child plays with them. Small magnets can pose a serious choking hazard. If multiple magnets are swallowed, they can attract to each other through the intestinal walls, causing severe injuries, and even death.

Dust and powder from neodymium magnets are flammable.

Avoid drilling or mechanical processing of neodymium magnets. If the magnet is crushed into fine powder or dust, it becomes highly flammable.

Magnets made of neodymium are particularly fragile, which leads to damage.

Neodymium magnets are delicate as well as will crack if allowed to collide with each other, even from a distance of a few centimeters. They are coated with a shiny nickel plating similar to steel, but they are not as hard. At the moment of connection between the magnets, small sharp metal pieces can be propelled in various directions at high speed. Eye protection is recommended.

Keep neodymium magnets away from TV, wallet, and computer HDD.

The strong magnetic field generated by neodymium magnets can destroy magnetic media such as floppy disks, video tapes, HDDs, credit cards, magnetic ID cards, cassette tapes, or other devices. They can also destroy videos, televisions, CRT computer monitors. Do not forget to keep neodymium magnets at a safe distance from these electronic devices.

Neodymium magnets can become demagnetized at high temperatures.

Although magnets have demonstrated their effectiveness up to 80°C or 175°F, the temperature can vary depending on the type, shape, and intended use of the specific magnet.

People with pacemakers are advised to avoid neodymium magnets.

Neodymium magnets generate very strong magnetic fields that can interfere with the operation of a pacemaker. This happens because such devices have a function to deactivate them in a magnetic field.

Comparing neodymium magnets to ferrite magnets (found in speakers), they are 10 times stronger, and their power can surprise you.

To handle magnets properly, it is best to familiarize yourself with our information beforehand. This will help you avoid significant harm to your body and the magnets themselves.

Do not bring neodymium magnets close to GPS and smartphones.

Neodymium magnets generate strong magnetic fields that interfere with magnetometers and compasses used in navigation, as well as internal compasses of smartphones and GPS devices.

Neodymium magnets can attract to each other, pinch the skin, and cause significant swellings.

If you have a finger between or alternatively on the path of attracting magnets, there may be a severe cut or even a fracture.

The magnet is coated with nickel - be careful if you have an allergy.

Studies show a small percentage of people have allergies to certain metals, including nickel. An allergic reaction often manifests as skin redness and rash. If you have a nickel allergy, you can try wearing gloves or simply avoid direct contact with nickel-plated neodymium magnets.

So you are aware of why neodymium magnets are so dangerous, see the article titled How dangerous are powerful neodymium magnets?.
