Due to unique properties, MP 20x8x5 / N38 in a ring form finds extensive use in various industries. Thanks to a powerful magnetic field of 2.28 kg, which can be described as lifting capacity, they are key in applications that require strong magnetism in a compact space. Usage of MP 20x8x5 / N38 magnets include electric motors, generating systems, sound devices, and several other devices that use magnets for producing motion or storing energy. Despite their powerful strength, they have a relatively low weight of 9.90 grams, which makes them more practical compared to heavier alternatives.

Shopping tips

Advantages and disadvantages of neodymium magnets NdFeB.

In addition to immense power, neodymium magnets have the following advantages:

  • They do not lose their strength (of the magnet). After about 10 years, their power decreases by only ~1% (theoretically),
  • They are highly resistant to demagnetization by external magnetic field,
  • In other words, thanks to the shiny coating of nickel, gold, or silver, the element acquires an aesthetic appearance,
  • They exhibit extremely high magnetic induction on the surface of the magnet,
  • Magnetic neodymium magnets are characterized by hugely high magnetic induction on the surface of the magnet and can operate (depending on the shape) even at temperatures of 230°C or higher...
  • The ability for precise shaping and customization to specific needs – neodymium magnets can be produced in various forms and dimensions, which amplifies their universality in usage.
  • Wide application in modern technologies – are utilized in HDD drives, electric drive mechanisms, medical devices or various technologically advanced devices.

Disadvantages of neodymium magnets:

  • They can break as they are extremely fragile when subjected to a strong impact. If the magnets are exposed to impacts, we recommend using magnets in a steel housing. The steel housing in the form of a holder protects the magnet from impacts and also increases its overall strength,
  • Magnets lose their power due to exposure to high temperatures. In most cases, when the temperature exceeds 80°C, these magnets experience permanent reduction in strength (although it is worth noting that this is dependent on the shape and size of the magnet). To avoid this problem, we offer special magnets marked with the [AH] symbol, which exhibit high temperature resistance. They can operate even at temperatures as high as 230°C or more,
  • They rust in a humid environment. For outdoor use, we recommend using waterproof magnets, such as those made of rubber or plastic,
  • Limited ability to create threads or complex shapes in the magnet - the use of a housing is recommended - magnetic holder
  • Health risk arising from small pieces of magnets can be dangerous, in case of ingestion, which is crucial in the aspect of protecting young children. It's also worth noting that tiny parts of these products have the potential to be problematic in medical diagnosis in case of swallowing.

Exercise Caution with Neodymium Magnets

Maintain neodymium magnets away from children.

Neodymium magnets are not toys. Do not allow children to play with them. In the case of swallowing multiple magnets simultaneously, they can attract to each other through the intestinal walls. In the worst case scenario, this can lead to death.

Avoid contact with neodymium magnets if you have a nickel allergy.

Studies show a small percentage of people have allergies to certain metals, including nickel. An allergic reaction often manifests as skin redness and rash. If you have a nickel allergy, try wearing gloves or avoid direct contact with nickel-plated neodymium magnets.

Neodymium magnets can become demagnetized at high temperatures.

Even though magnets have been found to maintain their efficacy up to temperatures of 80°C or 175°F, it's essential to consider that this threshold may fluctuate depending on the magnet's type, configuration, and intended usage.

Neodymium magnetic are extremely fragile, resulting in shattering.

Magnets made of neodymium are highly delicate, and by joining them in an uncontrolled manner, they will crack. Neodymium magnets are made of metal and coated with a shiny nickel surface, but they are not as hard as steel. In the event of a collision between two magnets, there may be a scattering of fragments in different directions. Protecting your eyes is crucial in such a situation.

Make sure not to bring neodymium magnets close to the TV, wallet, and computer HDD.

Strong magnetic fields emitted by neodymium magnets can destroy magnetic storage media such as floppy disks, credit cards, magnetic ID cards, cassette tapes, video tapes, or other devices. They can also damage televisions, VCRs, computer monitors, and CRT displays. You should especially avoid placing neodymium magnets near electronic devices.

Neodymium Magnets can attract to each other, pinch the skin, and cause significant swellings.

Magnets may crack or crumble with uncontrolled connecting to each other. You can't approach them to each other. At a distance less than 10 cm you should hold them extremely strongly.

People with pacemakers are advised to avoid neodymium magnets.

In the case of neodymium magnets, there is a strong magnetic field. As a result, it interferes with the operation of a heart pacemaker. Even if the magnetic field does not affect the device, it can damage its components or deactivate the entire device.

Neodymium magnets are the strongest magnets ever invented. Their strength can surprise you.

Familiarize yourself with our information to properly handle these magnets and avoid significant injuries to your body and prevent disruption to the magnets.

Dust and powder from neodymium magnets are highly flammable.

Avoid drilling or mechanical processing of neodymium magnets. Once crushed into fine powder or dust, this material becomes highly flammable.

Never bring neodymium magnets close to a phone and GPS.

Intense magnetic fields generated by neodymium magnets interfere with compasses and magnetometers used in navigation, as well as internal compasses of smartphones and GPS devices.
