Neodymium magnets MP 20x5x5 / N38 in a ring form are regularly used in various industries due to their specific properties. Thanks to a powerful magnetic field of 1.43 kg, which can be described as force, they are very helpful in applications that require strong magnetism in a compact space. Applications of MP 20x5x5 / N38 magnets include electrical mechanisms, generators, audio systems, and numerous other devices that use magnets for generating motion or energy storage. Despite their powerful strength, they have a relatively low weight of 11.04 grams, which makes them more practical compared to heavier alternatives.

Advantages as well as disadvantages of neodymium magnets NdFeB.

Apart from immense strength, neodymium magnets have the following advantages:

  • They do not lose their strength (of the magnet). After about 10 years, their power decreases by only ~1% (theoretically),
  • They are highly resistant to demagnetization by external magnetic field,
  • By applying a shiny coating of nickel, gold, or silver, the element gains an aesthetic appearance,
  • They have very high magnetic induction on the surface of the magnet,
  • Magnetic neodymium magnets are characterized by hugely high magnetic induction on the surface of the magnet and can operate (depending on the shape) even at temperatures of 230°C or higher...
  • The ability for precise shaping and customization to specific needs – neodymium magnets can be produced in a wide range of shapes and sizes, which expands the range of their possible uses.
  • Significant importance in modern technologies – are used in computer drives, electric drive mechanisms, medical apparatus or various technologically advanced devices.

Disadvantages of neodymium magnets:

  • They are fragile when subjected to a strong impact. If the magnets are exposed to impacts, we recommend using magnets in a protective case. The steel housing in the form of a holder protects the magnet from impacts and at the same time increases its overall strength,
  • They lose strength at high temperatures. Most neodymium magnets experience permanent loss of strength when heated above 80°C (depending on the form and height). However, we also offer special magnets with high temperature resistance, up to 230°C,
  • Due to their susceptibility to corrosion in a humid environment, we suggest using waterproof magnets made of rubber, plastic, or other moisture-resistant materials when using them outdoors,
  • The use of a cover - a magnetic holder is recommended due to the limited production capabilities of creating threads or complex shapes in the magnet
  • Health risk arising from small pieces of magnets pose a threat, when accidentally ingested, which becomes significant in the aspect of protecting young children. Additionally, tiny parts of these magnets can complicate diagnosis in case of swallowing.

Exercise Caution with Neodymium Magnets

Neodymium magnets are the strongest magnets ever invented. Their power can surprise you.

Familiarize yourself with our information to correctly handle these magnets and avoid significant injuries to your body and prevent damage to the magnets.

Magnets should not be treated as toys. Therefore, it is not recommended for youngest children to have access to them.

Neodymium magnets are not toys. You cannot allow them to become toys for children. In the case of small magnets, they can be swallowed and cause choking. In such cases, the only solution is to undergo surgery to remove the magnets, and otherwise, it can even lead to death.

The magnet is coated with nickel. Therefore, exercise caution if you have an allergy.

Studies show a small percentage of people have allergies to certain metals, including nickel. An allergic reaction often manifests as skin redness and rash. If you have a nickel allergy, you can try wearing gloves or simply avoid direct contact with nickel-plated neodymium magnets.

It is crucial not to allow the magnets to pinch together uncontrollably or place your fingers in their path as they attract to each other.

If joining of neodymium magnets is not controlled, at that time they may crumble and also crack. Remember not to approach them to each other or have them firmly in hands at a distance less than 10 cm.

Keep neodymium magnets away from people with pacemakers.

Neodymium magnets produce strong magnetic fields that can interfere with the operation of a heart pacemaker. However, if the magnetic field does not affect the device, it can damage its components or deactivate the device when it is in a magnetic field.

Neodymium magnetic are extremely fragile, they easily break as well as can become damaged.

Neodymium magnets are characterized by significant fragility. Neodymium magnetic are made of metal and coated with a shiny nickel, but they are not as durable as steel. In the event of a collision between two magnets, there may be a scattering of fragments in different directions. Protecting your eyes is crucial in such a situation.

Never bring neodymium magnets close to a phone and GPS.

Magnetic fields interfere with compasses and magnetometers used in navigation for air and sea transport, as well as internal compasses of smartphones and GPS devices.

Neodymium magnets can demagnetize at high temperatures.

Although magnets have demonstrated their effectiveness up to 80°C or 175°F, the temperature can vary depending on the type, shape, and intended use of the specific magnet.

Keep neodymium magnets away from the wallet, computer, and TV.

Strong fields generated by neodymium magnets can damage magnetic storage media such as floppy disks, credit cards, magnetic ID cards, cassette tapes, video tapes, or other similar devices. In addition, they can damage televisions, VCRs, computer monitors, and CRT displays. Avoid placing neodymium magnets in close proximity to electronic devices.

Dust and powder from neodymium magnets are highly flammable.

Avoid drilling or mechanical processing of neodymium magnets. Once crushed into fine powder or dust, this material becomes highly flammable.
