Neodymium magnets MP 16x8/4x3 / N38 in a ring form are commonly used in various industries due to their specific properties. Thanks to a powerful magnetic field of ${capacity} kg, which can be described as strength, they are extremely useful in applications that require strong magnetism in a compact space. Usage of MP 16x8/4x3 / N38 magnets include electric motors, generators, audio systems, and many other devices that use magnets for producing motion or storing energy. Despite their powerful strength, they have a relatively low weight of ${weight} grams, which makes them more convenient to use compared to heavier alternatives.

Advantages and disadvantages of neodymium magnets NdFeB.

Apart from immense power, neodymium magnets have the following advantages:

  • They do not lose their power (of the magnet). After approximately 10 years, their power decreases by only ~1% (theoretically),
  • They are extremely resistant to demagnetization by external magnetic field,
  • By applying a shiny coating of nickel, gold, or silver, the element gains an aesthetic appearance,
  • They exhibit extremely high magnetic induction on the surface of the magnet,
  • Thanks to their high temperature resistance, they can operate (depending on the shape) even at temperatures up to 230°C and above...
  • Thanks to the flexibility in shaping or the ability to adapt to specific requirements – neodymium magnets can be produced in a wide range of shapes and sizes, which amplifies their universality in usage.
  • Wide application in advanced technologically fields – are utilized in hard drives, electric drive mechanisms, medical devices and very advanced devices.

Disadvantages of neodymium magnets:

  • They can break as they are fragile when subjected to a strong impact. If the magnets are exposed to impacts, we recommend using magnets in a steel housing. The steel housing in the form of a holder protects the magnet from impacts and also increases its overall strength,
  • Magnets lose their strength due to exposure to high temperatures. In most cases, when the temperature exceeds 80°C, these magnets experience permanent reduction in strength (although it is worth noting that this is dependent on the form and size of the magnet). To avoid this problem, we offer special magnets marked with the [AH] symbol, which exhibit high temperature resistance. They can operate even at temperatures as high as 230°C or more,
  • They rust in a humid environment - during outdoor use, we recommend using waterproof magnets, such as those made of rubber or plastic,
  • Limited ability to create threads or complex shapes in the magnet - the use of a housing is recommended - magnetic holder
  • Possible danger to health from tiny fragments of magnets are risky, in case of ingestion, which is crucial in the context of child safety. It's also worth noting that small elements of these magnets can be problematic in medical diagnosis after entering the body.

Safety Guidelines with Neodymium Magnets

Dust and powder from neodymium magnets are flammable.

Avoid drilling or mechanical processing of neodymium magnets. Once crushed into fine powder or dust, this material becomes highly flammable.

Neodymium magnets should not be near people with pacemakers.

Neodymium magnets generate very strong magnetic fields that can interfere with the operation of a pacemaker. This happens because such devices have a function to deactivate them in a magnetic field.

Do not place neodymium magnets near a computer HDD, TV, and wallet.

Strong magnetic fields emitted by neodymium magnets can destroy magnetic storage media such as floppy disks, credit cards, magnetic ID cards, cassette tapes, video tapes, or other devices. They can also damage televisions, VCRs, computer monitors, and CRT displays. You should especially avoid placing neodymium magnets near electronic devices.

Neodymium magnets can become demagnetized at high temperatures.

Although magnets have shown to retain their effectiveness up to 80°C or 175°F, this temperature may vary depending on the type of material, shape, and intended use of the magnet.

Magnets will attract to each other, so remember not to allow them to pinch together without control or place your fingers in their path.

Neodymium magnets jump and also touch each other mutually within a distance of several to almost 10 cm from each other.

Maintain neodymium magnets away from youngest children.

Remember that neodymium magnets are not toys. Be cautious and make sure no child plays with them. In the case of swallowing multiple magnets simultaneously, they can attract to each other through the intestinal walls. In the worst case scenario, this can lead to death.

Do not bring neodymium magnets close to GPS and smartphones.

Magnetic fields generated by neodymium magnets interfere with compasses and magnetometers used in navigation, as well as internal compasses of smartphones and GPS devices.

Magnets made of neodymium are extremely fragile, resulting in their cracking.

Neodymium magnets are delicate as well as will break if allowed to collide with each other, even from a distance of a few centimeters. Despite being made of metal as well as coated with a shiny nickel plating, they are not as hard as steel. In the case of a collision between two magnets, there can be a scattering of small sharp metal fragments in different directions. Protecting your eyes is essential.

The magnet coating contains nickel, so be cautious if you have a nickel allergy.

Studies clearly indicate a small percentage of people who suffer from metal allergies such as nickel. An allergic reaction often manifests as skin redness and rash. If you have a nickel allergy, try wearing gloves or avoid direct contact with nickel-plated neodymium magnets.

Comparing neodymium magnets to ferrite magnets (found in speakers), they are 10 times stronger, and their power can shock you.

Make sure to review all the information we have provided. This will help you avoid harm to your body and damage to the magnets.
