Neodymium magnets MP 14x8/4x3 / N38 in a ring form are frequently used in various industries due to their unique properties. Thanks to a powerful magnetic field of 1.03 kg, which can be described as force, they are very helpful in applications that require high magnetic power in a compact space. Usage of MP 14x8/4x3 / N38 magnets include electrical mechanisms, generating systems, sound devices, and several other devices that use magnets for producing motion or energy storage. Despite their significant strength, they have a relatively low weight of 2.83 grams, which makes them more convenient to use compared to heavier alternatives.
The operation of ring magnets results from their unique atomic structure. In the production process, neodymium atoms are arranged appropriately, which allows for the creation of a concentrated magnetic field in a specific direction. This field is ideal for applications in systems requiring motion control. Moreover, ring magnets are resistant to demagnetization.
Ring magnets have a wide range of applications in many industries, such as electronics, e.g., in the production of speakers or electric motors, automotive, where they are used in brushless electric motors, and medicine, where they are used in precision diagnostic devices. Their ability to work in high temperatures and precise magnetic field control makes them ideal for technologically advanced applications.
Their uniqueness comes from high magnetic strength, resistance to high temperatures, and precision in generating the magnetic field. Their unique ring form allows for effective use in devices such as motors or speakers. Additionally, these magnets are significantly stronger and more versatile than ferrite counterparts, making them an ideal choice in the automotive, electronics, and medical industries.
Thanks to their resistance to high temperatures, ring magnets operate reliably even in tough conditions. They do not lose their magnetic properties, as long as the temperature does not exceed the Curie point. Compared to other types of magnets, ring magnets show greater resistance to demagnetization. Because of this, they are ideal for applications in the automotive industry, robotics, and devices requiring operation in changing or extreme environmental conditions.

Product suggestions

Advantages and disadvantages of neodymium magnets NdFeB.

In addition to immense power, neodymium magnets have the following advantages:

  • They do not lose their power (of the magnet). After approximately 10 years, their power decreases by only ~1% (theoretically),
  • They protect against demagnetization caused by external magnetic sources very well,
  • In other words, thanks to the shiny nickel, gold, or silver finish, the element gains an aesthetic appearance,
  • They exhibit very high magnetic induction on the surface of the magnet,
  • By using an appropriate combination of materials, they can achieve significant thermal resistance, allowing them to operate at temperatures up to 230°C and above...
  • Due to the option of accurate forming or adaptation to individual needs – neodymium magnets can be produced in many variants of shapes or sizes, which amplifies their universality in usage.
  • Significant importance in modern technologies – are utilized in computer drives, electric motors, medical devices and various technologically advanced devices.

Disadvantages of neodymium magnets:

  • They are fragile when subjected to a powerful impact. If the magnets are exposed to impacts, we recommend using magnets in a steel housing. The steel housing in the form of a holder protects the magnet from impacts and at the same time increases its overall strength,
  • They lose strength at high temperatures. Most neodymium magnets experience permanent loss of strength when heated above 80°C (depending on the form and height). However, we also offer special magnets with high temperature resistance, up to 230°C,
  • Due to their susceptibility to corrosion in a humid environment, we recommend using waterproof magnets made of rubber, plastic, or other moisture-resistant materials when using them outdoors,
  • Limited ability to create threads or complex shapes in the magnet - the use of a housing is recommended - magnetic holder
  • Possible danger arising from small pieces of magnets are risky, in case of ingestion, which becomes significant in the context of children's health. Furthermore, tiny parts of these magnets have the potential to be problematic in medical diagnosis after entering the body.

Handle with Care: Neodymium Magnets

People with pacemakers are advised to avoid neodymium magnets.

In the case of neodymium magnets, there is a strong magnetic field. As a result, it interferes with the operation of a heart pacemaker. However, if the magnetic field does not affect the device, it can damage its components or deactivate the device when it is in a magnetic field.

Neodymium magnets can demagnetize at high temperatures.

Although magnets have demonstrated their effectiveness up to 80°C or 175°F, the temperature can vary depending on the type, shape, and intended use of the specific magnet.

Dust and powder from neodymium magnets are flammable.

Do not attempt to drill into neodymium magnets. Mechanical processing is also not recommended. If the magnet is crushed into fine powder or dust, it becomes highly flammable.

If you have a nickel allergy, avoid contact with neodymium magnets.

Studies show a small percentage of people have allergies to certain metals, including nickel. An allergic reaction often manifests as skin redness and rash. If you have a nickel allergy, you can try wearing gloves or simply avoid direct contact with nickel-plated neodymium magnets.

You should keep neodymium magnets at a safe distance from the wallet, computer, and TV.

Strong magnetic fields emitted by neodymium magnets can damage magnetic storage media such as floppy disks, credit cards, magnetic ID cards, cassette tapes, video tapes, or other devices. They can also damage televisions, VCRs, computer monitors, and CRT displays. Avoid placing neodymium magnets in close proximity to electronic devices.

Do not give neodymium magnets to children.

Not all neodymium magnets are toys, so do not let children play with them. In such a situation, surgery is necessary to remove them. In the worst case scenario, it can result in death.

Magnets made of neodymium are extremely fragile, resulting in their cracking.

Neodymium magnetic are fragile and will crack if allowed to collide with each other, even from a distance of a few centimeters. Despite being made of metal as well as coated with a shiny nickel plating, they are not as hard as steel. In the case of a collision between two magnets, there can be a scattering of small sharp metal fragments in different directions. Protecting your eyes is essential.

It is crucial not to allow the magnets to pinch together uncontrollably or place your fingers in their path as they attract to each other.

Magnets will attract each other within a distance of several to about 10 cm from each other. Don't put your fingers in the path of magnet attraction, because a serious injury may occur. Magnets, depending on their size, can even cut off a finger or alternatively there can be a severe pressure or a fracture.

Never bring neodymium magnets close to a phone and GPS.

Intense magnetic fields generated by neodymium magnets interfere with compasses and magnetometers used in navigation, as well as internal compasses of smartphones and GPS devices.

Neodymium magnets are the strongest, most remarkable magnets on the planet, and the surprising force between them can shock you at first.

Familiarize yourself with our information to correctly handle these magnets and avoid significant injuries to your body and prevent disruption to the magnets.

To raise awareness of why neodymium magnets are so dangerous, see the article titled How very dangerous are strong neodymium magnets?.
