Neodymium magnets MP 14x8/4x3 / N38 in a ring-shaped form are frequently used in various industries due to their specific properties. Thanks to a powerful magnetic field of 1.03 kg, which can be described as lifting capacity, they are extremely useful in applications that require strong magnetism in a compact space. Usage of MP 14x8/4x3 / N38 magnets include electric motors, generating systems, sound devices, and many other devices that use magnets for producing motion or energy storage. Despite their powerful strength, they have a comparatively low weight of 2.83 grams, which makes them more convenient to use compared to bulkier alternatives.

Advantages as well as disadvantages of neodymium magnets NdFeB.

In addition to immense power, neodymium magnets have the following advantages:

  • They do not lose power over time - after about 10 years, their power decreases by only ~1% (theoretically),
  • They protect against demagnetization caused by external magnetic sources very well,
  • Thanks to the shiny finish and nickel, gold, or silver coating, they have an aesthetic appearance,
  • They exhibit very high magnetic induction on the surface of the magnet,
  • Thanks to their high temperature resistance, they can operate (depending on the form) even at temperatures up to 230°C and above...
  • The ability for precise shaping or customization to specific needs – neodymium magnets can be produced in a wide range of shapes and sizes, which enhances their versatility in applications.
  • Wide application in modern technologies – are utilized in hard drives, electric motors, medical devices and other highly developed apparatuses.

Disadvantages of neodymium magnets:

  • They can break when subjected to a strong impact. If the magnets are exposed to impacts, we recommend using magnets in a steel housing. The steel housing in the form of a holder protects the magnet from impacts and at the same time increases its overall strength,
  • High temperatures can reduce the strength of neodymium magnets. Typically, after heating above 80°C, most of them experience a permanent reduction in strength (although it is dependent on the form and size). To prevent this, we offer special magnets marked with the symbol [AH], which are highly resistant to high temperatures. They can operate even at temperatures up to 230°C, making them an ideal solution for applications requiring high-temperature operation,
  • Due to their susceptibility to corrosion in a humid environment, we recommend using waterproof magnets made of rubber, plastic, or other moisture-resistant materials when using them outdoors,
  • Limited ability to create threads or complex shapes in the magnet - the use of a housing is recommended - magnetic holder
  • Health risk to health from tiny fragments of magnets are risky, when accidentally ingested, which becomes significant in the context of child safety. Furthermore, tiny parts of these products are able to hinder the diagnostic process when they are in the body.

Exercise Caution with Neodymium Magnets

Dust and powder from neodymium magnets are flammable.

Avoid drilling or mechanical processing of neodymium magnets. Once crushed into fine powder or dust, this material becomes highly flammable.

Neodymium magnetic are especially delicate, resulting in shattering.

In the event of a collision between two neodymium magnets, it can result in them getting chipped. They are coated with a shiny nickel plating similar to steel, but they are not as hard. At the moment of collision between the magnets, tiny sharp metal fragments can be propelled in various directions at high speed. Eye protection is recommended.

People with pacemakers are advised to avoid neodymium magnets.

Neodymium magnets generate strong magnetic fields. As a result, they interfere with the operation of a pacemaker. This happens because such devices have a function to deactivate them in a magnetic field.

If you have a nickel allergy, avoid contact with neodymium magnets.

Studies show a small percentage of people have allergies to certain metals, including nickel. An allergic reaction often manifests as skin redness and rash. If you have a nickel allergy, you can try wearing gloves or simply avoid direct contact with nickel-plated neodymium magnets.

Under no circumstances should neodymium magnets be placed near a computer HDD, TV, and wallet.

The strong magnetic field generated by neodymium magnets can damage magnetic media such as floppy disks, video tapes, HDDs, credit cards, magnetic ID cards, cassette tapes, etc. devices. They can also destroy videos, televisions, CRT computer monitors. Remember not to place neodymium magnets close to these electronic devices.

Neodymium magnets are the strongest, most remarkable magnets on earth, and the surprising force between them can shock you at first.

Familiarize yourself with our information to properly handle these magnets and avoid significant swellings to your body and prevent disruption to the magnets.

Neodymium magnets can demagnetize at high temperatures.

Even though magnets have been found to maintain their efficacy up to temperatures of 80°C or 175°F, it's essential to consider that this threshold may fluctuate depending on the magnet's type, configuration, and intended usage.

Keep neodymium magnets away from GPS and smartphones.

Magnetic fields interfere with compasses and magnetometers used in navigation for air and sea transport, as well as internal compasses of smartphones and GPS devices.

Magnets are not toys, children should not play with them.

Neodymium magnets are not toys. You cannot allow them to become toys for children. In such a situation, surgery is necessary to remove them. In the worst case scenario, it can result in death.

Neodymium magnets can attract to each other, pinch the skin, and cause significant swellings.

Magnets may crack or alternatively crumble with careless connecting to each other. You can't move them to each other. At a distance less than 10 cm you should have them very strongly.
